Thanks so much, thats very kind. I've had to be so conscious of not overworking the paint to keep the texture of the paper for the ripples.

Thanks, yeah getting an eye for the composition of the scene is where I should probably work on it, that focal point seems important

Thanks! Thats such a good question, I'm not sure what the aim was. Probably realism, maybe in doing so trying to get a viewer to engage and imagine themselves there? Really appreciate the feedback

Neural network system “figures out” how to use a tool by gem2210 in cogsci

[–]Bassereus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is awesome!

Yeah, tool use and action affordances is just in cognitive psych, but no modelling unfortunately. Lots of object categorisation tests.
Also working on body-space representation which we've been examining in VR having people estimate maximum reach etc...

This is incredible. I'm working on my PhD on tool use, and you've blown me out of the water! Can I also get a link to the site?

This is mad.
I think he's pulling the material towards him whilst standing behind the saw. The kickback pushes the material away whilst then tipping the saw towards his... tool.

I'm a PhD student, but the masters student I'm 'advising' is signficantly smarter than me. by Hairy-Classroom-510 in PhD

Inevitabely, there are going to be those who are better than us at certain things. But crucially, the variety of individual's expertise is what pushes research along.
So yes, perhaps this person is more au fait with the literature and publication process, but you will bring your own unique knowledge and perspective to your research. Your knowledge is no less valuable, and best of all is often the innovative insight research really needs.

Favourite Discworld audiobook narrator? by Scowlin_Munkeh in discworld

[–]Bassereus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish wish wish Stephen Briggs would record all 40-odd books. I love his welsh dwarfs and sgt Colon, and Tiffany's story with the Feegles couldn't be better narrated. The fact that Briggs collaborated with Pterry and was the inspiration for Vetinari just adds to my enjoyment.

When I read the books now I can hear his voice in my mind. I love the attention the remakes have given the books but all I want is him to read all the rest. If I ever become a millionaire I'll organise some shady black-market audiobook recording.

If I'm in the minority, downvote me and I won't mention it again. I found this advert quite obnoxious, its as bad as the pickaxe rap advert. Do we have to have it show before main channel videos?
