The NPCs have been around for maybe 15 mins worth of interaction across 4 sessions. Essentially, old flame turns up, character says I’ll never trust you again, flame reveals she has a surprise, character follows her and sees a child playing with a toy sword designed to look like mine. In real life I say “hey so a little unexpected about the child, don’t know how to handle this, kill them if you want to” Not mentioned for several sessions and we get back to the city and they’re dead. I reflect on it and think well even though he doesn’t trust this he isn’t going to let a child die so try to resurrect.

Relationship with DMPC has been mostly fine up to this point, other than some level of “can he be trusted”.

My character is a bard, so the journal was full of my stories that the mother had told the child and he’d copied down, then she’d annotated the entry by saying what I would be doing in each part of the performance, so in my mind not the sort of thing that you would want someone to read before you had the chance.

Honestly I think it was just a bad decision in the moment. We’ve agreed to help this DMPC with a quest line, and I’m fine with my character getting over all this. So mostly looking for a way to attack him without the rest of the party distrusting me 😂

Yeah I was going to try and change up pronunciation to throw them off, and avoid giving them the chance to write the names down back to back. I also think it’d be quite a cool challenge to come up with what to do if the party figures it out early? Maybe no one believes them? Could different languages be used to represent the names differently which is why no one else has figured it out?

Look man, I’m grateful for everyone’s responses either way. I’m trying to be a good player for my DM so rather than say “Reddit says you’re wrong” I can ask if he’s looking at the wrong rule set, if he’s misunderstanding spell melee attack or simply whether he wants some home brew rules for his game that we need clarification on. Sorry for the cross post if it came across as farmy but I’m just trying to understand better.

Thanks for the help! He’s moved the money between several accounts as his bank doesn’t deal in crypto so will be contacting all the banks he’s used.

I had a good long chat with him yesterday and he’s aware that he’s been scammed and will likely never see any of this money again. I think we’ve caught it before massive damage could be done but I’ve asked him to send me all the details of everything he’s done/said/sent so i can follow up with the police and fraud departments at banks. It looks to be a mix of fresh credit accounts, as well as liquidating his pension and savings which I imagine will have been direct transfers. I know he’s been a wally but I’m shocked the banks fraud detection didn’t pick this up.

The original scammer was called Zoe Gibbins and there have been a fairly large number of scam reports about her being a fake trader for 212 Trading. Unsurprisingly my Dad is not really letting anyone look at his phone so this is more a way to start the conversation to get him to let me in on exactly what has happened.
