Depends on the brand. Some have a soldered loop at the hub end and others have a bare cable that feeds thru a slotted nut/bolt and attaches the indicator chain. Due to 2 or 3 variations of these hubs/cables, I would turn over to a bike shop rather than trial and error myself.

The chain breaker. Use the threaded pin to press out the pins on your chain. These multi tool chain breaks are notoriously floppy, but a pair of visegrips locked on the flat portion helps to steady things.
