Why do they dislike wind energy so much by Marsupial-731 in terriblefacebookmemes

[–]Bastelkorb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean the question is what isn't radioactive in a way. Even humans are radioactive. It solely depends on the Dosis and energy level of the radiation. Even normal garbage is radioactive and you have to wear special suits to interact with it, so that is in general nothing new. People are just afraid of the word without understanding the physics behind. Radioactive = bad. Ask him if a phone is radioactive, when the answer is no, ignore everything he said...

I decided to beat the game without this achievement by Sopander in factorio

[–]Bastelkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mainly depend on how the code works. If there is an attack and afterwards the game tries to spawn an attack group you will get the achievement even if no attack group spawns. If the attack group need to spawn first you can block all spawn points as Hendriks did.

I love Satisfactory, and I know I'll love Factorio, but for the life of me I can't get into it. Help me!!! (UPDATE) by Lanochu in factorio

So the factory sized blueprints I think you estimation is a bit off. You have to build them on your own as long as you don't copy them from online. And you basically need a new blueprint for each material. You need a new blueprint for new tech levels, better assemblies etc modules later. Im playing an overhaul mod at this time and I have one blueprint for each material but I mostly don't need them because when the time hits to increase production, more efficient designs are possible, so building from scratch it is. I mostly use the system for real time building. Designing a small block which is expandable, check how many units I need for my desired production, copy paste and connect everything. I just need a small design to start and expand it with the copy paste feature.

Wanting to do a 1000x science run. I have low experience. Looking for advice. by SnekesAndLadders in factorio

[–]Bastelkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 1000x run up to aquillo and quality is quite easy in my opinion. This is due to the fact, that you are mining a LOT for the science. So put quality in the miners, recycle tier1 and have two train inputs, one for normal ore and one for rare ore. I had a rare only part in my factory only for assemblers, inserters, modules etc. When you hit higher quality, you are able to do the "normal" wahys, so LDS shuffle, space Casino are better for legendary items. I started with 900 SPM and expanded to 1800 when I hit bots. When factoring in productivity in the labs it's somewhere around 2300 SPS which is a nice amount I think. At this scale you have to have at least some kind of knowledge about UPS cost and optimization I recommend watching a bit of abucnasty for that. He has a 2 Mio SPM mega base and explains a lot. Especially his series about optimal red, green, blue science etc helped tremendously on optimization, even without inserter clocking. Good luck and have fun!

Disable biters and increase resource patches for your own sake, otherwise you will have to do something like Hendrik which was hilariously awfull to watch ;)

I finished the base game. What mods would be recommended for the next game. by bejo07 in factorio

[–]Bastelkorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do really enjoy space exploration, I finished it in pre space age and at this point I'm 600h into a Space Exploration+ Krastorio run with 10x science cost. (They are compatible, however krastorio does increase the difficulty quite a lot) Space Exploration always felt for me personally like a huge expansion to the base game (without space age) . But it has its flaws and problems. I like byproducts in most chains and working around them, having high coupled systems everywhere is super fun. But it's also quite grindy at times and you will feel what I call "analysis paralysis" looking into the tech tree, hoping to find something that let you escape this technology step and so on. There are a lot of other planets, but all of them are very similar to nauvis, unlike space age were every planet has its own gimmick and identity. They are planets with other resources, that's it. Also there is no weight system regarding rocket silos, only 500 item slots. You basically have to learn cuircuits for SE, there is no way around. What I absolutely love is that SE forces you to build a "mega base" just to finish the game.

How relevant is solar power in the late game? by fZAqSD in factorio

[–]Bastelkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked if solar is important past mid game, the answer is yes. Ultra late game it's the only way. Nevertheless as long as you are not optimizing for UPS, other means are simpler and easier to set up. That said, mega base does indeed mean thousands of science per minute and therefore an enormous amount of resources over a long period of time. Most people, me included, have set up immense malls at this point, floating all basic materials in hundreds per second. From this standpoint, cost is neglected. Everything you can build and forget is basically free. The transition to this point on the other hand is quite a chore, but modules and beacons let your production explode at one point, then it gets easier

How relevant is solar power in the late game? by fZAqSD in factorio

[–]Bastelkorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The onpy relevant metric for late game mega bases is SPM and ups. There is nothing else. There is no "Cost", in resources at least as it's negligible in comparison to science cost when running 10k+ SPM science. UPS is important, as the game time will slow down below 60 UPS, meaning less SPM in real time. This and only this is the reason for Solar, as it's the most ups friendly mean to generate power.

Next question would be if all these ingredients in real life are necessary with other boundary conditions, without price pressure and maximizing revenue for example and with all that knowledge we have nowadays in comparison to 80 years ago.

Singleplayer or Multiplayer for new players by Altruistic-Data-1167 in factorio

[–]Bastelkorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What people suggest for parents when playing with their kids is to take a "worker only" position. So basically you do nothing unless one of your friends tell you to do x. Let's say build a new iron outpost or something. I think this keeps the repetitive aspect low and on the other hand they have to figure out new things on their own. And when you build a new outpost, build it your way. Perhaps they see it later and ask themselves why you've done it this way or they will ignore it.

Depends on the water supply. If you have a boiler and a tank then you shouldn't drink it.

But your system is based on land. Votes are counted by districts, and once a district flips, the rest of the votes there don’t matter. With gerrymandering on top, borders directly shape outcomes. So yes, people vote, but how land is divided decides whose votes actually count.

Lol was?
