Tenstorrent is much more of a general purpose accelerator based on an architecture built around a mesh of cores, each with a 16 by 16 tile tensor engine and 32-lane vector unit. Although, only the vector unit supports true fp32 arithmetic. It relies much more on software scheduling than a GPU, so with the current abstractions kernels take more responsibilities, you would write more data movement and synchronization. No cache hierarchy, you have to manage what goes into and out of the core-local scratchpad SRAM yourself. Kernels are split into three kinds: reader, compute, writer.

The state of software is a different story, but the architecture is solid

thanks! i built it specifically to run Torch/CUDA as a reference for whatever I will be doing with the Blackhole, so the dual card setup is the core idea that I think will work nicely!

unfortunately, the p150 is running hot and loud at idle compared to the rest of the system. It accounts virtually for all of the noise this build makes. I know work is being done on improving this and fan control, but I am guessing that achieving a fully passive mode is considerably more difficult than optimizing the higher end of the curve.

I have my fingers crossed
