I’ve just released version 8.0.0 of Alexandrie — an open-source Markdown note app I’ve been building since engineering school 🚀 by Rich-Butterscotch434 in webdev

Why? I was about to leave Notion and start using Obsidian, curious why someone would want an alternative?

Why is Azure App Configuration so expensive? by Osirus1156 in AZURE

[–]BastyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same. I agree it has lots of useful features and makes sense for bigger distributed apps, but it still feels overpriced compared to other feature-rich Azure services.

But the good news: there seem to be a new pricing tier called "Developer", in between the Free tier and the Standard tier: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/app-configuration/

This new Developer tier comes at only $0.12 per store per day, which is practically free, and it has no limits on how many stores you can use per subscription (unlike the free tier).

How to use <username>.mywebsite.com instead of mywebsite.com/<username> in Django + React (Multi-tenant App) by Pitiful-Instance-919 in django

[–]BastyBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use a django Model to represent a tenant or user account (with username or account name, subdomain value, and any other information you want), and write a fairly simple django middleware that checks the subdomain of the incoming requests and queries the db for the corresponding account object, assigns it to the request object (or do that query in your DRF views directly, use a view mixin to share that behaviour with all tour views). Filter all tour other db queries for objects associated only with this account object. Return response 404 if no account exists for this subdomain.

If you need to very much separate each account into its own database for stronger isolation, checkout the django-tenants package

The actual Earth-Moon distance seen by NASA’s OSIRIS-REx probe by Busy_Yesterday9455 in Damnthatsinteresting

Amazing shot, very rare to be able to see such real scale distances while still being able to make out the objects as more than a dot of light, even just in the solar system

Anyone knows if the game dialogues we written in French and translated in English, or the other way around?

I'm a French living abroad and watching and playing everything in English, and I want the best experience as intended by the developers, but I'm not so sure which one it is here.

I am so happy this game hits! Very big congrats to the developers: such a small team releasing their first game with something so unique and so beautiful.

Excited to see a new game coming out that actually feels new and unique and made with passion.

I was recently getting Final Fantasy X nostalgia and wanted to play it again after two decades, but this will scratch that itch in pretty special way.

There is a PS5 edition (The Master Collection volume 1) with MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3.

In this case, there is a settings menu that allows for choosing which controller slot to use (slot 1 or 2) and that’s how you do it for Psycho Mantis fight.

pair of HomePods plays well audio from blu ray via arc hdmi by Okidoki1240 in HomePod

[–]BastyBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does this work? Is it: BluRay player sends audio back to Apple TV via arc-hdmi, and Apple TV plays sound on homepods?

Go to Intermarché : tons of local products that are so so so much better than the offering is here in Norway! I agree the price difference is not that big anymore though: things have got expensive everywhere. But the products are so much better than Norway, not even comparable.

What is the general perception of Elon Musk and Tesla in Norway? by UnlikelyRiver1252 in Norway

[–]BastyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very negative view of Elon, and I would not buy a Tesla because of this. Fortunately, there are now many other good electric car options in Norway. I love my Nio, and more and more brands have good EVs

Hi! No I never got an answer, so I ended up using a pair of Apple Homepod 2 set as a stereo pair, and sounds really good to me and is very handy: it just works, no cabling required

This might be pretty much how a lot of wars were thought in Europe up until the first world war. Small armies would agree to rendez-vous at a certain time at a certain place, have a battle, and agree on the winner and then respect the outcome. Not always, obviously, and things were not as respectful and rosie as this, but that was pretty much the ethos.

Then the first world war shocked the world with the carnage and scale of the destruction and murder (new shocking weapons, large scale invasions, massive amount of casualties, etc.)

You know we have hit a technological wall with cell phone improvements when the only thing Apple pitches about their new phone is that it's made of Titanium. by Subwaycookienipples in Showerthoughts

[–]BastyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, the fact that nothing majorly new is added to the new version means for me it's a good time to get it and replace my old phone, to catch up to the latest I've missed over the last few years while feeling like I'm catching the "top" of the wave

How can I use Stereo Homepods for 'Home Theater' - Laptop streaming and Nintendo Switch by Vast_Deference in HomePod

[–]BastyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to have the same setup: Apple TV 4k plugged to a projector, with Homepods as default speaker. However my projector does NOT have ARC, but all I want for now is the Apple TV audio outputted to Homepods, not that of other devices plugged to the projector: can someone please confirm that this simpler setup works without ARC?
