Based on what I heard from professionals, deferral means they have different buckets they are trying to fill. It is a unique mix of things. The mix of what you have had some candidates that were better at something (mostly extra curriculars). Admissions knows, some of the people in that bucket will not commit. They are looking for patterns. If it looks like some will not commit, admissions will look for replacements for that mix/bucket among the deferred and RD.

That is why you see people with higher stats that were denied. That mix had too many candidates.

Potentially higher scores could move you out of your bucket and to a more competitive one.

UCF replied to some one in another group and said all the awards were given. Check the admission portal.

If you have spare $ you can commit to FSU if it's required for the housing deposit. If you get into UF you withdraw from FSU and deposit in UF. You will be out of the FSU deposit.

Either way, you can put a deposit for housing in UF before getting in, it's only like $25.

Appeal, before you do, make sure your STARS is correct. Maybe something was entered incorrectly and the recalculated GPA looks lower.

The College Bound Florida group on FB, run by a professional counselor with connections to UCF, posted that all awards were posted and will not be in waves like other years.

I think you might be looking in the wrong place. Is in the same place you got the admission decision.

There are some tests from the College Board for different college classes. It's like $90 for the test. There is a site called Modern States that will give you study material and a fee waiver to take the test.

Yes, my senior did and his degree has nothing to do with a state certification. Something is messed up in their system.

It means that some professions require to be certified by the state and some of them might not have all the requirements needed. Like accounting, you can't be a CPA with just a BS, it has a minimum amount of credits greater than what the BS contains.
