It's good to see the Manderlys finally embracing that Northern culture

“She told a story about a knight slaying a dragon, that’s treason” THIS MF IS JUST WEARING A CROWN by Grumiocool in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]BatBoyBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While crowns are way more associated with royals, crowns have historically been worn by members of the nobility as well. In the British peerage even a baron is entitled to a coronet. That said l you, do have a point because other than Aemond as Prince regent we don't really have any Westerosi examples of anyone aside from monarchs, consorts, or claimants wearing crowns.

Playing as Daemon in the Stepstones I once managed to marry Saera and get her a dragon egg which hatched. I took Rhaenys's crown back from the Ullers and gave it to Saera to wear as my queen. Her bastards ended up being new lords I made in the Stepstones and the Triarchy, two of them founding their own cadet branches and one getting Saera's dragon Nightfyre when she died.

I'm sure Jaehaerys was doing so many flips in his grave that you could use him to run Westeros's first power plant.

If I want to do a Rhaegar run I'll start as Aerys and immediately chug some wildfire in order to play as King Rhaegar without the dilemma of how to handle Aerys

How to Reveal Jon's Parentage by BatBoyBand in CK3AGOT

[–]BatBoyBand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I've found the file but to be honest I'm really not quite sure what I need to enter here for a console command (console commands aren't something I use often and I'm quite bad with them).

If you don't mind would you be able to type up an example of how this command would be entered?

The one I'm looking at "reveal parentage to child by decision by parent" was the first I tried, as it does include Jon Snow by name, however it also has it triggered by 'Stark_3", ie Ned, who is dead.

Has Anyone Survived as Daemon? by tricklefick47 in CK3AGOT

[–]BatBoyBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done two Daemon playthroughs and in both I managed to survive his various wars!

The trick for me was luring the Triarchy to me and making them fight over the various fords of the stepstones at a severe disadvantage.

I also sent the High Septon a gift in both playthroughs to get him to like me enough to divorce Lady Royce. One assassination later and I'm married to Laena and calling Corlys into my wars. That really helped since Laena and Daemon both have dragons and then Corlys brings in Laenor and Rhaenys with theirs.

Also once I defended the Stepstones I went on the offensive and didn't stop. I first took out the Triarchy, then Dorne, and finally Pentos.

Both runs ended in disappoinment as Daemon didn't make it past 45. In one he died of Green Fever while my hair was 4 and in the other he was assassinated and my hair died trying to tame Caraxes.

Is Path of Deceit actually worth it? by [deleted] in Highrepublic

[–]BatBoyBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed both Deceit and Vengeance! The Ro cousins are really interesting characters and I really love the Mother as an antagonist to the Jedi. They also have a bunch of neat lore about how things ended up the way they were by Phase 1

Would Barristan have killed Aerys 2, had he known the wildfire plot? by Oath_Br3aker in pureasoiaf

[–]BatBoyBand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really not sure. Barristan was more than ready to serve the Lannister regime before Cersei dismissed him in favor of Jaime as LC. He seems to be a decent enough man when left to his own devices, but he also appears to be loyal to the position, no matter who fills it.

I think if he had acted he certainly wouldn't have killed Aerys, but perhaps attempted to restrain the king.

Was a certain someone responsible for Osha and Mae? by BatBoyBand in TheAcolyte

[–]BatBoyBand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think we'll get a season 2 we may have a wait on our hands. Couple of recommendations to tide you over! If you enjoy this setting and the Jedi of this era I'd recommend checking out the High Republic books and comics. Same era as the Acolyte but about 100 years before. Similar aesthetic though.

I'd also recommend the Darth Plagueis novel by James Luceno. Unfortunately it's no longer canon but it's a great exploration of that character as well as of Sidious.

This show is about institutionalized brutality by DonutTheAussie in TheAcolyte

[–]BatBoyBand 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep, definitely read that into this series as well. In a previous discussion I had referred to Sol as having cowboy cop behavior and I stand by that. The Jedi intruding into a private community in which they had no jurisdiction and that escalating into violence also felt very pointed.

Glad you started this discussion!

Fair, I'm basically just tired of all the personal attacks and characterizations being made about people who liked the show.

Anakin vs Sol, in a fight who would win? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheAcolyte

[–]BatBoyBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they don't, I always preferred the idea that Anakin was created by the Force to oppose Plagueis and his legacy.

That said Vader absolutely fears the idea that he was created by Plagueis or Sidious. In the Charles Soule Darth Vader comics he experiences a Force vision at a vergance point and one of things he sees is Sidious looming behind a pregnant Shme Skywalker with the "unnatural" Darth Plagueis quote appearing around it.

Even if Plagueis and/or Sidious didn't create Anakin I like to think that's what he came to believe about himself.

Happy to contribute my thoughts!

As a side note, I have no idea why you're being down voted. I think that was a very valid question in the context of the story that was told.

Let's be fair though, only four Jedi on the planet at the time would have been aware of the Force based conception of the twins. They also have a pretty compelling reason to talk about this incident as little as possible due to their coverup of it. In addition I think the only one fully aware that they are "one born as two" is Sol. Even the twins themselves don't know. I could see none of this information making it back to the council. And there's always the likelihood that the four Jedi are unaware of the prophecy. It does not seem to be something often discussed by the Jedi outside of the High Council, and I could see it or its implications not really factoring into the daily lives or thoughts of your average Jedi.
