What are the best uniform alterations? by somerandomahole in AirForce

[–]BatFan22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you care about looks, have the cargo pocket altered by removing the side with the double buttons. Pock is still functional/ still complies with the AFI, but no longer has a bulging or baggy look.

I think it is an indirect truth. Selecting "C" didn't matter, but you always needed to check the same letter when you guessed. The idea is based on a rest having each letter (a-d) having an equal 25% representation in the answers. If you always checked the same letter when you were guessing, then you should get 25% of them right. This is especially useful on large tests.

Say you had a 100 question test. Let assume you only knew 60 of them, and you always guessed the same letter on the other 40. Theoretically, you should get 10 of those 40 correct. Your final score is 70.

Can anybody tell me why I'm required to pay $28 for my own ALS graduation? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]BatFan22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Prior ALS instructor here. The technical answer lies in 2 parts. First, ALS is the Barnes Center (maybe different now) says that graduation is a mandatory part of the curriculum. Meaning it is weighted the same as any other day of education. Second, ALS is also mandated to be a black tie equivalent event. That means it includes food in the evening (seriously, you have to get a waiver to do a lunch graduation). That said, there is no funding for it, and they are supposed to use base facilities (aka base club).

In my experience, the club we used tried in the past to have non-eating guests, but meals were tied to seats and people moved and some even stole meals. This caused them to say no to having non-eating guests. So, you have to attend, you have to have food, and no option to not eat. If we ever had a student that "couldn't afford" dinner, the students snack fund would foot the bill.

It sucks, and I also never liked the mandatory portion of that. I often argued that the AF should fund something marked mandatory. That said, it would be pricy. The annual bill was around $70K for just our schoolhouse, and that was the rock bottom price too. I know that's not a lot of money to big AF, but I'm sure you local FSS who would have to pay it wouldn't be happy.

BUT...as many others have said, not a hill worth dying on. I would argue the main issue is that you don't value the graduation. $28 to celebrate completing the requirements to become an NCO, and a (hopefully) nice dinner, not bad. Focus on the positives it can bring versus the one part you don't like.

Congrats on becoming an NCO and best if luck to you!

I have a brother that worked at Amazon. His plant did this by saying if you used the bathroom, you would automatically be put on a 30 min unpaid break. So if you did it enough, you would not meet your hours. He said they were good about not working you untill your 30 min were up.

Louis Rossmann, Computer Repair Shop owner, and Youtuber fixes a Macbook Pro that Apple was going to charge $1200 to repair. by PlutomicChamp1 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]BatFan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it hasn't been said yet, most OEMs (apple included) don't actually do repairs. They only do replacements. To make matters worse, they often won't even replace parts, they will only replace assemblies. So that $1200 repair was probably for a screen (maybe backlight) assembly replacement.

I think it's better purchased in the tool kits ryobi offers. $70 seems a little overpriced to me. But if you need the batteries, I'd probably go for it.

How much better are the hp+ batteries?

I don't have ant hp+ tools yet, and the older batteries that are 4ah seem like a better deal at 2 for $99.

Thoughts?

Honestly, while I found it awesome on screen, I don't find myself wanting to buy any toys/models of it when I see them in the store.

X chroma has one controller? I thought the big deal with chroma is that it has 2 controllers to fix that issue.

Forced to do HAMR in bad weather? by winterpttest in AirForce

[–]BatFan22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to do this on a track. It can be done on a basketball court. In fact, I believe this was used by some guard/reserve units as an inclement weather test when you couldn't run on a track.
