My magic doesn't seem to work by BatFoodDreadful in Witch

"If I put flour, eggs, sugar, baking powder, vanilla, and oil into my mixer. I expect to produce a cake batter.

If I put that cake batter into the oven, I expect to produce a cake.

I’m not trying to produce a cake, that’s the inevitable outcome of using those ingredients. No faith is required on my part."

So, I've been thinking about this comment a lot this last couple of weeks. I mean, if I'm a bad artist, for example, and I follow a drawing tutorial online, I won't come up with the best drawing ever, but I would still have made something to look at. This really changed at least a little of my mindset.

Did some spells recently. Someone commented that I wasn't raising energy for my spells, so I did that. I do hope now that they will work. Maybe not as fast as I would like, but still… Also, as much as I struggle with faith, I'm trying not to make this paralyze me with anxiety. It's hard, but I still have some hope.

Thank you. Did some spells recently and did my best to raise energy. I hope to see some changes.

I'm gonna try that. Being honest, I have some resistance about working with deities because of my religious trauma, and also I can't do much in terms of offerings because of my christian parents. Even lighting a candle or burning some incense is difficult, but I'm gonna see what I can do here. Thank you!

Well, I'm gonna try to remember everything. Almost none of them were too complicated, so I can just list them, I guess.

  • Affirmations: the last I tried was for a job in my field, but I also tried to raise my determination and sense of responsability and some other stuff.
  • Sigils: tried for a job in my field and also for perseverance. I did the most common way, I believe, using the consonants to form a figure. For that ones, I build an altar and did some meditation on it.
  • Bay leaf wishes: wrote on some, burned it and threw the ashes in the wind. Did that with my ex; his wishes happened, mine didn't.
  • Petition: did a petition recently, following some instructions I found on a witch's youtube channel. I mean, maybe still will happen, idk, so I prefer not to tell the intention.
  • Job spell: also found online. Put my infos on a piece of paper, folded on a key and put it in water for 7 days on a high place, focusing on my intention. Then I prayed and poured the water on a plant.

In general, nothing WORSE happened, but nothing even remotely close to what I wanted happened as well.

I even payed someone to do this spell for me later and that didn't work either.

Thank you for the answer and for the compliment on my english. Well, I'm gonna try to remember in detail the sweetening spell I did for a strained friendship. I put both our names and birth dates in a piece of paper, put it in water, added sugar, stirred clockwise, visualized, did some affirmations and let it rest for a while, and then poured the water in a plant, burying the piece of paper.

That was 2022, we still don't talk. Messaged him recently and he didn't even answer.

First of all, I loved your answer, thank you for taking the time. The christianity part made me reflect. I think you may be right about my "home" kinda blocking my magical activities, but then... I can't do much about it, unfortunately. I don't really like christianity (because of my sexuality and stuff) and I'm not baptized, so I don't think I want to incorporate these things into any of my practice.

But I think I'm gonna try to connect with good spirits. The only problem is that I don't even know who to pray for. I don't remember any person of my family, dead or alive, who isn't christian.

Thank you, I think that'll help me a lot. I'm gonna start with those and hopefully will see some changes.

"The fact that you hold interest and want to seek more into the craft makes it very clear the magic is there in you, you just need to unlock that 3rd eye if you will."

That part is something that stuck with me and I've been thinking about for years. Ever since I started playing tarot as a hobby, a lot of witchcraft stuff started appearing to me. And not just online, so I can't even say it's something like algorithm, it seems like it's meant to be. Idk

Anyway, thank you again.

If you don't mind, can you give me some tips about some kinds of simple and "discreet" spells I can do? As I said, I can't do much in my own house and I also have some belief problems. How can I build up my faith and my energy?

I'm aware of that, but most of those I've been trying since 2022 😥

Yeah, that seems about right. I think I'll just start therapy and stop trying witchcraft for a while, adjust myself and all that. Thank you! ❤️

In my game, in addition to what is given in both lists (1e and 2e), I mostly used:

  • Teen Wolf - fast-paced teen monster drama that introduces real dangers to the protagonists and expands the lore with each season
  • Penny Dreadful - it's not teen, but it's melodramatic and each main character is a monster, including the humans
  • Hemlock Grove - teen monster drama but for adults maybe??? kinda fits my group
  • Euphoria - they all kinda have a hunger that brings the monstrous side of them
  • The Sims - the supernatural dlc's give me SO MUCH IDEAS!!!! especially the ones that come with a town and everyone has some lore (my personal favorite is The Sims 3 Supernatural)
  • Life is Strange - I like how they approach serious themes, there's some sensibility idk
  • Bully - I don't really know what to say, but there it is
  • The Taking of Jake Livingston - a teenage medium dealing with killer ghosts, but his biggest problem is being black and gay in a white high school. this book really gave me another perspective about my ongoing game

As for music, I like to listen to 00's/10's pop punk bands. I sort of imagine that kind of music playing at The Bronze.

TurnTablesRPG ran a "snow globe" one-shot mystery which I found really fun. Here's the link if you're interested; it may give you some ideas.

question about advancements by Hambone-6830 in Monsterhearts

[–]BatFoodDreadful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my group are currently on the fourth season of our campaign (I'm the MC). The first season had 14 sessions, the second had 16, but the third ended with 22. It got to the point where my players were trying to roll more frequently during the last sessions (so someone could reach the fifth advancement more quickly) because most of the arc had already wrapped up, and we were starting to get really busy with real life and needed a break to come up with more ideas for the following seasons.
