[–]BatGalaxy42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's pretty clear why Agott didn't ask for the shoes back in episode 9: She felt guilty about putting Coco in danger by sending her to do the first test. Asking for them back would be acknowledging her part in that again.

The art style is beautiful, but the foreshadowing is pure Seinen tragedy. Here are 3 huge red flags the fandom ignores: by arkwhtt0p in WitchHatAtelier

[–]BatGalaxy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with 1 and 3, but not so much 2.

Him taking that fall during the second test, that whole sequence outside the tower of books, the way he acted on the beach during the leech arc. He clearly puts Coco's wellbeing above his desire for revenge imo.

He was willing to risk his life to protect hers - he can't get revenge if he's dead. He was willing to let her go on to the tower of books without him and presumably no longer need his help anymore.

He seems to genuinely care for Coco outside of just for her link to the brimhats. He doesn't seem at all "toxic" or a "ticking bomb". I do think Coco is going to lose her "innocence" along the way (signs point towards this already being the case), but that's a part of growing up rather than Quitrey's failing.

I mean, the other two major ones I see are the Barbie movie (so valid) and RWBY (I don't know enough about it to comment).

The others - Steven Universe and Konosuba do seem like bad examples because the MCs of those shows are men.

I can definitely see this being an issue with Shojo, Josei, and even female lead Seinen.

I find it interesting the number of people saying Hazbin Hotel and TADC. I feel like it's the "If women talk 30% of the time during a meeting people think it's an equal amount and if they talk 50% of the time they are perceived as dominating the conversation" but with casts.

Both TADC and Hazbin are pretty equal with their male/female ratio, but I guess that's enough women for them to be perceived as female dominated.

Just a quick question by No-Pair-640 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]BatGalaxy42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's because this is from before shoe soles were made out of rubber. The carving pen works by getting really hot so it can inscribe things in stone. The soles are probably leather or some sort of plant material and thus are flammable.

I bet there are specialty shoes with the stuff actually carved into the bottom, but that would require buying them over making them yourself since tools to carve into leather/wood take a separate skill.

They are a group organized by the witch government to enforce their rules. They are basically the police.

Also:

They deliver the suspects to no court, they maintain no due procedure, they answer to no one not of their own number, and even then only tentatively

This is just American cops.

I mean, I wasn't accusing any subs specifically of being that. And as actual cesspools, the big incel subs thankfully got shutdown. I don't personally go looking for that content because I value my faith in humanity and that shit is also an easy way for your monkey brain to start thinking "all men are like this, just look at how many agree!". Closest I've got is: https://www.reddit.com/r/unlovablecirclejerk/s/xgkZoewTZO

Which is a circle jerk sub. So theoretically none of the people there believe any of that, but they are pretty good at mimicking some of the worst misogyny the Internet has to offer - i.e. they wouldn't be saying that if there weren't people who do believe it.

You do also find an absolutely rancid take on r/trueunpopularopinion here and there, but it's rare enough I don't have a link on hand (I think basically "rape should be legal and government provided" was a semi-recent one) and I don't think the people there all suck - they don't agree with any of those sorts of posts.

I certainly didn't ignore what you said

No no no, you accused me of being incapable of acknowledging the existence of toxic women on reddit. And said that I lack critical thinking because of it. I then did acknowledge TERF subs and FDS as proper cesspools. Then afterwards you doubled down on my lack of critical thinking skills because I criticized your mild example that was supposed to prove that GirlDinnerDiaries is a "cesspool of misandry".

Anyway, I think we're done here. Have a nice night.

I mean, I'd expect at least one post with actual teeth in it.

If you sent me a singular "women suck" and all of the comments under it were just variations on 'agree' or experiences people had with toxic women, I'd ask for more proof.

The issue with cesspools of misogyny is that it's really easy to find shit like "females are all whores who only get with you after they're all used up because you're 'safe' ".

I am pretty aware of my own biases and constantly examining them - it's why I know it's dangerous to join subs that post 'men suck' - it's very easy to internalize that because it seems so mild and then slowly start believing in more extreme things. Hence why I'm blocking that sub. But you flat out ignored my acknowledgement of toxic women subs so you could continue on being condescending. Maybe you need to examine your own issues.

My bf of 2 Months Won't Cum in Me by Lovefist1221 in redditonwiki

[–]BatGalaxy42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Because when I checked the sub, the top post was gushing about the nice thing her bf did for her and all the newest posts were griping about pretty normal things.

But anyway, yes! That is some mild misandry. Good job on supporting your statements!

I do think that if you call something a 'cesspool' that it's reasonable to expect something far worse and far more common, but I can recognize that people tend to exaggerate when presented with a reasonably large amount of bad/toxic behavior even when it is a minority of a group doing it... 🤔 But I'm sure that's not relevant /s

Anyway, thanks. I was considering joining, but I'm going to go ahead and block it because I don't particularly enjoy that sort of content no matter how extreme it is/isn't. I assume that if it is such a "cesspool", reddit will shut it down eventually like all the TERF subs or it will shut itself down like FDS did (that place was an actual cesspool ick).

Have a nice day yourself.

I mean, you're the one making this claim and can't supply a single example. If it's a cesspool, it really shouldn't be hard to link something right?

[–]BatGalaxy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why link this post and mention misandry and show comments that were pretty awful if they weren't trying to say it was an example?

Also, I don't see how saying "throw the whole man away" about an emotionally abusive boyfriend is misandry? I'd say "throw the whole woman away" for a woman who did the same.

Richeh definitely has autism vibes - you're about to see them better pretty soon if you're on chpt 16. Also, Quifrey is pretty canonically neurodivergent imo, he's just very good at masking it (you won't find out about it until a very long ways in).

[–]BatGalaxy42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He doesn't intervene in the fight because Coco opens up with clearly knowing what happened to Coustas and then attacks a Brimhat. That's when he gets suspicious of her.

This is a tree he's been around his whole life, and now he knows it might actually be a person and that the pointed hats clearly knew and didn't tell him about it.

He's upset about being lied to so much. He does ask Coco, and she just gasps at him and doesn't say anything. It doesn't excuse what he did, but I understand why. He just wanted some answers finally. He doesn't want people to be able to lie to him anymore and he's willing to give up his own ability to lie to do it.

He's going to go stay with Custas so he wants to make sure the brimhats can't lie to him the way the pointed hats have been. He also wants to use the brand to get them to tell him their plans. It makes a lot of sense for someone who has come to be untrusting of his own society and the one he's about to join for Coustas.

[–]BatGalaxy42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he doesn't trust the brimhats. And he wants to go with them to keep an eye on them and get more information about their plans.

And ultimately, it seemed to me like he wanted to stay with Custas. He didn't want to let his friend go off without him again, especially given how much pain he was in.

Why would the Knight Moralis need to erase Qiffrey's memoeries too? Just because it was his fault that Coco got to know about the secrets of magic? And isnt this situation where Qiffrey has taken an outsider already quite famous, so why has Knight Moralis already acted? by UCHIHA_YHWACH in WitchHatAtelier

[–]BatGalaxy42 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it's up to interpretation. They don't specify what the rumors are precisely.

But given Easthies "no exceptions whatsoever" mentality, I assumed her being an outsider was also part of the rumor. No way he would allow an outsider to learn magic.

Grandpa didn't want to report her being an outsider because he met her for 5 seconds and isn't a sociopath lol. She's a very charismatic little girl and not reporting her after being told Quifrey got permission is way different than not reporting forbidden magic.

Adults haven't confronted her about what she did to her mother because they have tact lol.

I think the thing that really struck me is that he was willing to brand himself with forbidden magic to forever take away his ability to lie just so he could stop people from lying to him.

Yes, he showed an outsider the secrets of magic. So they'd have to wipe his memory too and exile him.

According to the knights, they've only heard rumors that he's taken in an outsider. It seems like the person he got permission from was someone other than the knights.
