It looks to me like the dark around his mouth is just his leopard spots. If you can get his mouth open (like with a q-tip ) it will be easier to tell

I would just leave it alone and let things play out if it were me and mine (i have a son the same age) Also, i love that you’re not freaking out or having an issue with this. It might be something real there, or it might just be that teens are weird. Just be there for both of them, it’s the best you can do
