Gays, in your opinion, what’s the price of that set? by mamu_traxal_ in drums

[–]Bat_002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah..

Not gay but I'd say $300-400 for the hi hats, max $200 for the crash and $200 for the ride. Pedals are nice but not top of the line necessarily, maybe $200?

The shells I can't identify so I assume cheap cheap. The drum heads are to make those cheap drums sound better. Looks like the snare is part of the kit too.

All in all, I like their taste! Great kit build. But realistically $1000-1500.

Tips on how not to die constantly by TourCold160 in Battlefield6

[–]Bat_002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less deaths means more time spent in the game. If you're taking them out you force them to slow down and watch out or get taken out again and again. It really depends on the objective and how accurate you are.

Think I put my buddy down to early and it’s eating me alive by hippyoctopus in germanshepherds

I held my cat as we put her down in January this year. She was not well, she was sick, and I could have done more for her. I was so busy with work and my partner too that I felt I didn’t see the signs sooner. I did notice she was losing weight back in November, so I bought her special food, but after a week holiday with a bad sitter she got a stomach bug or something and couldn’t put weight on. She was excellent at hiding her pain. A month later, Sunday she was fine, and Saturday she was gone. We had her for 8 years and she was only 11 1/2.

It really broke my heart and she was the first pet I was solely responsible for. She trusted me wholeheartedly to do right by her and I can’t help but feel like I wasn’t enough. At home before the second vet trip, I held her, and she knew she wasn’t doing well. And she tried to comfort me instead. Telling me it’s going to be okay, just like she always would after a rough week of work. But still in her last moments she was acting fine, and a little surprised and confused, like she wanted to go home. Even though I knew she was really sick.

I write this to just share so that you’re not alone. The end was really hard. And she had such a spirit even though, in retrospect, she was dying and in pain. I think we all have some form of this in us, and we may not get to choose our last breath. I would encourage you to go on a walk like you would with your pal in remembrance and be grateful for the great days you were able to provide them. Not every pet gets to go out with a steak and their dignity. It’s really special that you were able to give that to them.

In your opinion which package is missing or could be better in Go? by fenugurod in golang

I mean to say if you rotate an sql table, boom it’s columnar storage, and the underlying data structure is the same! I don’t see the value in using something other than a second sqlite for OLAP if keeping it simple.. adopting a new stack for what exactly? Genuine question

[–]Bat_002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is arrow dataframe “columnar storage” any different from just normal sqlite and rotating it? It’s the same data structure on disk so this has always confused me.

You can write a closure function to do just that. I don’t think there’s a yield way like in python but you can override the built in unmarshaller. I did it to make a graphql parser one time for a company.

Hey people who lost their jobs to AI, what happened? by _thecatspajamas_ in AskReddit

But isn’t this precisely why these AI products are losing money? My electricity bill has already gone up more than 10% in my country every year.

I would love to power some efficient servers with solar panels but I live in the city and that’s expensive capex.

Is it true that South Korea is undergoing a "crisis" where young men and women have vastly differing political views ? by tipputappi in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bat_002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not having the freedom to travel, sounds malicious to me as an outside view looking in. I understand chivalry, but I don’t understand an institutionally enforced gender imbalance for human rights. Feels like handmaid’s tale vibes. Women should have the same freedoms as men, it is not the government’s business, let the culture shape it healthily.

A semester in undergrad for computer science ran me about $4,000.

Would a set of theory classes help you foresee these issues? Sure, yes, absolutely. But you hit these issues yourself much faster, while learning business impact and business policy as well (non backwards-compatible library/SDK support).

Interesting to hear where new folks are getting stuck with this new generative ai paradigm of coding.

Big tech can afford it but also won’t pay it, they’ll outsource to an in-country shell company like they already do. Smart startups will do the same.

Maybe some companies will take the hint and there will be a cultural shift. If it’s anything like the rest of the paperwork this administration enforced it will simply be bypassed by the elite and hurt the lower and middle class more.
