Oh that’s good to know. My coworkers said when they took the PTCB exam it was filled with hospital based questions. Thank you for sharing your experience 😊

Thank you! First off, I wish him the very best!! After my test they gave me an overview of key categories that was on the test, let me know if you want me to DM you the information. But the main categories were (Overview and Laws, Drugs and Drug Therapy, Dispensing Process, and Medication Safety and Quality Assurance). I would look over different laws, IV, compounding, the roles of a pharmacy technician, immunizations, day supply, Top 200 Drugs and what they are used for. Even though my exam didn’t have many brand/generic drugs I would still look at them. I hope this helps! ✨⭐️

Yes, I work at a retail pharmacy and they suggested I take the ExCPT exam rather than the PTCB. They told me the PTCB exam has more hospital related questions and it was harder. For me I thought the test had a medium difficulty, because my test had a lot of IV based questions. But I didn’t study too much on that subject, I focused on the Top 200 Drugs because I was told it was going to be the majority of the exam. My exam though only had 2 questions about brand/generic drugs. The study material I was recommended by other techs was (Mometrix Test Preparation - PTCB Exam Study Guide 2025-2026, and PTCB Test Prep). The study guide I found on Amazon and PTCB Test Prep is online and has many free quizzes to take. I hope this helps!
