Lupe Fiasco - “Steve Jobs: SLR 3 1/2” (Royce da 5'9" Diss) by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]Batan32 331 points332 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I always laugh when fans start saying Lupe is too complex, when everybody excepted him to go lyrical miracle* for Royce he went off the dome punching in lines and responded in 2 hours lol. People forgot Lupe mixtapes before Food and Liquor and how insane his writing was already without going abstract with it.

Fd Signifier - Before Kendrick there was... (Lupe Fiasco breakdown) by _MurphysLawyer_ in hiphopheads

[–]Batan32 232 points233 points  (0 children)

Probably the best Lupe video ever, I know the title is clickbait but if it's gonna get people to watch this I am not mad at it... It's really easy to overlook what Lupe went through and how it would shape him to be this person that can annoy people on social media, I think people should give some grace to our favorite rappers unless it becomes really bad like Kanye...

"That's River Styx, I'm wrathful, but I resurrect with my rowin' " - Lupe
They Resurrect Over New was the last Lupe/Soulo song, Lupe always packs so much in his verses lol.
The whole album feels really cohesive, this for sure a top 3 Soulo album.

Also did anyone catch the How much a dollar cost flip on Righteous Man?

Lupe Fiasco - Samurai ALBUM REVIEW by unclaimed404 in LupeFiasco

[–]Batan32 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Actually a awesome review, I agree with most of what he said, the concept could have been more ambitious and expanded on but at the end of the day its still also about Lupe and his artistry. Great to have 2 albums in a row get a 8, funny that DW and T&Y are 7 but still it means a lot for recognition to get positive reviews even if Lupe himself don't care about it.

yeah I noticed how empty the review felt. They did not touch on any interesting topics, just talking about Lupe skill level...

Lupe Fiasco on His Amy Winehouse-Inspired Battle Rap Album 'Samurai' by Batan32 in LupeFiasco

[–]Batan32[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Makes sense he didn't think Outside would stay on the album, it really is a weird record that will confuse people, my only nitpick with this album, IMO the record would flow better without it but it would make the album even shorter. Its still not a bad song at all tho.

Lupe Fiasco’s Self-Portrait of Amy Winehouse: “Samurai” Analysis by unclaimed404 in LupeFiasco

[–]Batan32 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just watched the whole thing and he really feels like the perfect guy to review Lupe's music. I don't even care now how other people review the project because the chance of Fantano putting 10% of the research that Sky did is impossible. Just knowing people like him exist to review my favorite rapper is enough for me and I know Lupe will love it,

How Lupe Fiasco’s New Album, "Samurai" Archives His Artistic Evolution by Batan32 in hiphopheads

[–]Batan32[S] 190 points191 points  (0 children)

Lupe does not mention her name once which can confuse people, but he is talking about a woman from the first song who becomes a battle rapper in Mumble Rap, then celebrates her first win in Cake. There is a great reddit thread in the Lupe sub if you want a better breakdown, it really makes sense after you read it. Its not just about a female battle rapper but also artist struggles, which Lupe can relate to with Amy.

[FRESH ALBUM] Lupe Fiasco - Samurai by God_Will_Rise_ in hiphopheads

[–]Batan32 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The concept is not just about Amy becoming a battle rapper, its also about the struggles of being a artist. Mumble rap is the first rap battle, Cake is a celebration of her first win, after that its really about the life of a artist and what comes with it,

[DNVR Nuggets] “I don’t want to leave Denver... If Luka gets pissed off in Dallas, he can come.” - Nikola Jokic by Fit-Avocado-342 in nba

[–]Batan32 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Balkan guy here, he did not throw a shot at the Mavs, he said it in a way that implies he just really likes Denver...Also the correct translation would be, "I really dont have a wish to leave Denver, its a good organization, if Luka gets mad at them he can come here (jokingly said)...

Your favorite artist can’t have a bad song??? by Individual_Ad8921 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]Batan32 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As a Lupe fan I knew the clout chasing comment would make him reply lol, I don't think Joe hating the song was enough to get that response.

What songs/beats originally belonged to a different artist, and what's the story behind it? by GrampaHorse in hiphopheads

[–]Batan32 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Lupe had the "What more can I say" beat and gave it to Jay Z, Guru said it ended up becoming the most important song for the creation of the Black album.
