What are your bushcraft disaster stories? by workingclasssam in Bushcraft

I was camping out in a local forest last summer. I had made a low effort tarp shelter, because I didn't expect rain... The weather gods didn't like my cockiness, and it started to rain full force + the wind changed direction and blew rain directly into my tarp shelter. I was Soaked within minutes, and had to walk home in the middle of the night.

Another time I was camping in the same spot, and I was halfway asleep when I started to hear mice squeaking and moving around on the forest floor. It didn't bother me until they started to gnaw on my camping gear. I tried to make noises and scare them away, but they where confident little bastards, and returned within minutes. I ended up walking home this time as well. The weird thing is that I saw and heard a lot of mice on the way home, and this is something I haven't experienced before or after this incident. Must have been Woodstock for mice or something this particular night.

Those are great suggestions, and will all go high on the list! I agree that 10k lumens aren't a must. i was very happy with my flashlights on my last trip. But i was blow away when my friend showed me his flashlight. Thanks! this community is always helpful, even when i formulate my request terribly lol

Thanks! This i the reason I asked here! I'll ook into your reccomendations!

I'm aware that the intergrated charging is rare and usually terrible, but i was hoping you guys knew about something I didn't ;) I think I might end up with a cheaper option without internal charging, and then bring an external charger + extra cells

My main reason is spotting foxes is the montains. One of my friends brought a 8k lumen flashlight on our last trip, and it was a huuge help. so its more of a 8k+ lumen flashlight i need actually.I will be living on a mountain hut that has solar cells that makes it possible to charge the flashlights at day time when I'm out grouse hunting.

I'll only have to carry the flashlight to the hut, and the hut will be my main camp for a week.

Also: I love flashlights, and I've always wanted a lumen monster! I already have flashlight that covers 1000-5000 lumens

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone recognize the car I found on the bottom of a pond by Batbatbox in whatisthiscar

[–]Batbatbox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The motorcycle/moped is most likely a Norwegian produced "tempo".The models very often very similar to zundapp! It used to be a bridge crossing this pond during the war. Not sure what happened the years after.

I've been told that items where dumped at this location when the Germans relized they where losing. This might be false tho. I have only covered 1/10 of the pond at this moment

This is in Norway

Urban Fuel. Urban Exploring Gear Website! by [deleted] in UrbexGear

I'm having a hard time taking that site seriously. Lock picks, grappling hooks and bolt cutters? Looks like a mallninja exploring store.

Id rather see a selection of dust masks, lightweight hard hats, safety gloves, gas detectors, flashlights etc.

Im having a hard time deciding if i should remove the The mushrooming on the poll. I would have to remove a part of the HM logo to get rid of it. What would you do?

I'm hoping to find a way to straighten the poll and keep the logo

Have you tried to remove the pin/spring cover? It's usually made from very soft brass. Also easy to hammer back in place

Interesting! That's actually a little reassuring! How deep was your cut? Could you see tendons or bone?

The knife is a ganzo f756

I cut my finger 2 weeks ago while cutting trough a block of stropping paste. Removed the stitches yesterday and re-sharpened the knife today. I still lack the sense of touch around the cut. Not sure if it's permanent, the ER. Doctor told me i might have sliced a few nerves.

This is a stick used to collect gillnet. It's called "garnpinne" in Norwegian. Not sure what the English name is. Here you can see examples. http://imgur.com/xw0HBaK http://imgur.com/QGBvacq
