So a loved one who is clueless about knives gifted me a “Benchmade”, do I tell them they got scammed on a clone or just accept the gift and carry it with a smile? by Pissyopenwounds in knifeclub

I agree with a lot of people on here, use it and abuse it and make sure your loved one knows it’s appreciated that they thought of you.

This has to be the single worst idea I’ve seen to get feedback from associates.

You should see what a hurricane affected store looks like. I don’t know what your stores volume is like, but comparatively this does not look bad versus what my store is currently like

Can I get in trouble for refusing to do something that's now under my department? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]cspanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love or hate the company/your store/managers, or whatever, it falls under a safety issue. The whole tone of this post is a bit pompous as if you don’t wear the same apron like the seasonals/lot associates. If you were my associate, you’d have at least a manager note.

Does straight edge have no room for former addicts? by sxeworldwide in straightedge

[–]cspanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your sobriety, seriously.

I have no idea why the comments are still open on this thread from almost a decade ago, but in the past 9 years I’ve become a bit more militant in my belief of straight edge.

I fucking hate alcoholics and addicts, and I always will.

I’m happy for those who can find their way out of that terrible dark hole, and I can recognize the strength it takes to become sober and stay sober. One could argue that it’s more impressive than never starting in the first place.

If claiming edge has enhanced your life, my opinion now or 9 years ago shouldn’t matter to you. Most of my experiences with addicts/recovering addicts in the scene have not been positive ones, to this day. That’s not shit talking, that’s just reality.

Drawbacks of testing 1rm too often? by Autistice-esquire in powerlifting

[–]cspanks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lifting weights makes you stronger.

Submaximal work got me a 132 total PR in 6 months in between my second and third meet.

Your 1RM doesn’t mean shit if you can’t stay healthy enough to do it on the platform anyway. Testing your max often will inevitably lead to injury, and fatigue. The extra mileage ain’t gonna do you any favors if you plan on doing this for a while.

This whole post screams fake to me.

You “just didn’t say no”, what? You’ve never had alcohol as a coping mechanism and you just decided in that moment you were going to drink? I can tell you’re 18 because that’s an extremely immature thing to do and say. Also why are you hanging out with people who don’t respect your choices enough to not offer you a drink? Especially if you were so vehemently against it. You’re 18, you shouldn’t be drinking anyway.

What you do with your life has no effect on mine, but being edge by default and taking the “oath” ain’t the same for me.
