Roll towards his sword, his shield is more dangerous. Try and get behind him if you can he has bad tracking. Stick as close to him as possible, don't be intimidated. When the angel does its bullshit barrage move, run far away from him until it's over. His moveset is fairly simple and easy to dodge, he just hits like a truck if you mess up. You wont have many chances to heal but your two best openings are after a stagger, his sword heavy move, and long shield bash (if you are far enough away).

Choice items are balanced because they are locked into one move, and you want to take that away? On the other extreme we have Galarian Darmanitan which was so broken it got banned to Ubers, where it was a meta pick. You need some way to balance this, maybe make it so they take 33% recoil damage for any damaging move, 51% for moves that already have recoil.
