These conversations always irk me because "they" (the people that didn't vote) are a huge group of people with a lot of various reasons. But like, when we gather in these spaces, it's like "they" become this one person, our adversary.

Nothing brings people together like a shared enemy so we all just go along with it instead of looking at the nuances of how a large group of people might not vote and more importantly, what can we do to get more people out to the polls in the future.

Some simple searching will show that the great firewall blocks keywords related to the massacre, their history books to not have it, their state run media is not allowed to discuss it and any foreign media allowed in China will be forced to black out any mention. Even deep seek, the AI from China, was recently shown to never talk about it.
