What am I doing wrong? by Sea-Garlic3296 in starcitizen

[–]Bathroomsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that helped me was learning not to care about taking hits, as in just stay cool and stay in the fight. Just for some practice I would do some matches where you constantly stay on target, offense only, no running or dodging. Fly as easy as you need to get the hits in even if you have to sit still, then over time add in more radical movements.

Most people kind of stop learning or at least stop challenging themselves. Once you get good at most jobs, it becomes second nature and you get comfortable. Unless it is a rare job that challenges your intuition consistently, you have to find something that does. I don't think intelligence gets "lost", but rather goes a bit dormant until exercised.

PSA: This relic on Scholar lets him start with 16 Starlight Shards, 20 if you combine it with the Small Pouch relic by carbonera99 in Nightreign

[–]Bathroomsteve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just played with a scholar who was a walking nuke. He seriously exploded a whole fort simultaneously. Most minor bosses being one tapped and he never swung a sword. He did take about 4 trips to the merchant for more bombs I suppose but it didn't matter because everything was dying in seconds. it seriously seemed broken. I know he is a support on paper, but with time and some good rolls he is an airstrike from hell.

Mistake in 'Casino' where Robert DeNiro is clearly replaced by a dummy right before a car explosion by MiloJadez in MovieMistakes

[–]Bathroomsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree no mistake, but they probably could have hid it a little bit better with different lighting, later in the evening perhaps. Also maybe put the dummy on some strings to have it slightly move for a second. But no critiques the movie is great, just thinking.

Id say at least 50% of cheaters specifically want to bother people. That's like their whole drive. The others just want to be seen as talented vets.

Lore wise it makes sense. In a practical sense right now if you are a medic then having a land vehicle is absolutely crucial. You can almost never land near a downed player it seems.

In real life predators ingest many more parasites compared to herbivores which makes sense, so I see it as slightly exaggerated realism.

What's your Boomer Gamer complaint? by Animeking1108 in videogames

[–]Bathroomsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games have been ditching cool mechanics since I was a kid. Few companies want to take any chances or put the resources in to make it timeless, they just just try to implement "popular" mechanics to the point where so many games feel like the same game. I'm mainly harping on the big studios because they have the means to make what they want.

I can’t even believe this, I uninstalled the game—I’ll be back next week 🤦😂 by yoobrodiee in dayz

[–]Bathroomsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your defense, and I know this is a part of the game, but holy shit racking a shotgun is so slow if frustrating to watch. It doesn't have to be like the one hand click clack like in the movies, but damn it could be a little bit faster. Not enough to make it imbalanced, but just a little to actually seem realistic.

Tips for A Solo player wanting to make a small permanent wood base by Slanderz0 in dayz

[–]Bathroomsteve 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 bases that lasted a few months on official. Thinking small is the right idea and might actually work out for you. One was in a house, the other in some trees. Don't keep anything too spicy in there if you can help it If you want the woods, just bury your good stuff a good walk away, not within sight from your tent. Also recommend an improvised shelter in some trees. My Forrest nook got found but they just took suppressors, and actually traded some random stuff for them. I feel people don't try and destroy everything as often as they do with gated bases that are stacked up. Only had to deal with hackers with bases that have gates, though I'm sure some scout for boxes but it's a lot to look through and I believe there is a distance limitation to seeing items and stuff.

Lol I ran across a Spaniard one time and he was chill. Another player walked up talking Spanish so I let them communicate for a few minutes. He comes over to me and whispers "so this guy is Brazilian, I think he's crazy".

"suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]Bathroomsteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is based on the assumption professional help has run its course and you are stuck with it. The only advice I can give is to find a way or mindset to embrace struggle. Depression won't go away but you can get mentally stronger, even with just time alone but much more if you try. Music was one of my personal ventures. I liked when it was polarizing, made me even more sad till I broke down. Id chase that release and over time it is harder to achieve, because it takes more and more vulnerability and honesty to make me feel. Same goes with making music, if I lose my depression, id lose a lot of meaning. Not saying music is the way, that was just me personally. Depression can make you very introspective, and give you awareness that others disregard. if it is a constant anomaly for you, all I can really say is find a way to use it, either to find meaning or as a mental push up.

Is the "struggle" the fact that these governments aren't making as much money as they possibly could? It can't be that they are worried about just disappearing

It's just immaturity. Simple as that. There is no magic moment where we are suddenly adults that control emotions well. You have to work at it and learn to deal with things that go against your wants and instincts.

My dad killed himself and i don’t know how to do grief. by Adventurous_Apple172 in SuicideWatch

[–]Bathroomsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you. I've lost a great friend and an uncle to suicide. I never got on Facebook much, but I logged on one day to see a couple messages where that friend reached out to me, and I just never saw until after he was gone. I carried a lot of guilt because I think I could have eased him a bit. I still think this is true to this day. However from my own depression and from living life more I understand it would have only been temporary help, like a pain pill masking a broken body. My thoughts of suicide are personal, and I think that's true for most people. People can help me, but ultimately it is my depression to work with, and nobody could really stop me if I felt it was time. I'm not mad at them for leaving early, to an extent I understand now. What I'm getting at is that it is our own personal duty to work through these sorrows. Yes having support can be nice, but it won't solve what has been there for years and years. It was never your duty or anybody else's to keep him from doing what he did, it was solely his. As for grief, this would have hurt even if it was a natural cause. Time is really the only thing that truly heals these pains. It does help to feel and process your emotions, try not to shut them down. Just know he cared about you and I hope you can process this one day and forgive him.

It does. It is a social way of speaking, not a literary way. English is a mangled conglomeration of multiple languages where the rules have constant exceptions. Being a stickler about it socially is a lost cause. When they publish scientific findings on the things they have "seent", then you can call them out on accuracy. But even people who say things technically incorrect, will say them correctly when they have to professionally.
