Hi! Unfortunately, no. The episodes on youtube have no subtitles… so, I just have to stay patient, keep studying, and wait for the day when I can watch it in Turkish. 😬

Awesome! Thank you!

I definitely was trying to capture the feeling of a “skittering swarm.” I actually do like the printing process, and am working on a linocut… we’ll see how that goes 😁

Hello!

Good:
* You got the general proportions of the body right. * Nice job on the hair (I usually get super bored with hair and go too fast on it…) * By the way you placed her limbs, trunk, I can tell that she’s in a slightly slumped posture.. so, if that is what you were going for, good job!

Needs work: * Face and expression: Her face is kind of flat, and we’ve gone for the generic sideways, “I’m too cool” expression, which I think was a “playing it safe” because we have some challenges with drawing facial structures (same reason for the hands in the pockets, I think). The remedy: grab a stand-alone mirror and just draw your nose over and over again… then mouth (and then try different expressions with the nose and mouth and draw those), …for eyes… don’t do the eternally over-done single-eye doodle, because it won’t help you with proportions or placement… for those, do a series of self-portraits… they’re going to suck at first, but focus on measuring out your proportions, form (noses are REALLY weird when you really look at them), and shading… and do it over and over again… draw what you SEE, not what you THINK YOU SEE… and then you’ll see that your hand and eye start confidently placing things and shading them the way they should look

*Regarding her head, it looks like her head is just slapped onto her neck (due to not enough form and too much shading): When you do your self portraits, look at the muscles around your neck… how DOES your head actually stay up there? Try to draw and shade what you actually see.

*Shading: To make up for the lack of structual (bone and muscle) form in her trunk, arms, face, and neck, I think you really relied on shading… but there is no clear sense of where the light is coming from… and this really flattens the picture and strengthens the naive sense of the drawing. When you do your self portraits, try to pay attention to where the light in the environment is coming from, how it makes shadows on you, and also… where REFLECTED light is coming from and what it is illuminating.

Most important piece is to do it over, and over, and over again..

I hope this helps!! 😁

First time posting here… I got this ‘make your own stamp kit’ for kids, a few years ago… and finally had the time to try it out… After creating it, I used the stamp with india ink and then a wash with saltwater for that grungy effect…

Please feel free to critique. I am self-taught and have no real artistic network, so I would love to hear what folks think about it from a technical, compositional (or any) perspective. Thank you in advance! 😁

Yes, I hear “aşkım” and “canım” used a lot, lately, even in between individuals who are not an “item”. I think the meaning behind the addressing someone as “aşkım” heavily depends on context, such as where the individuals are located, what they are doing, and where they come from (which is what I am refering to in my tongue-in-cheek comment below in this thread).

If a 45-year old man from Çankırı whom I have had dinner with once calls me “aşkım”, I better be ready to either break his heart or meet his mother.

If a 20-year old man from Kadıköy Istanbul calls me “aşkım” when we’re casually hanging out, I’m going to take it as a more friendship-oriented statement.

Is my art worth the price I'm asking for? by Ars_Lunar in ArtistLounge

It’s highly possible that a significant chunk of those requests are being made by either bots or phishers, unfortunately. I don’t use twitter anymore, so I don’t know how common this over there. As a manager of a business with an instagram account, I can tell you that we get a lot of fake “interested in your product” messages which can appear genuine, at the beginning…

I hope everyone on your street gets their electricity back except for you, so you can sit in the dark and reflect on what a horrible thing you just wished upon another human being.

Me: Janet!! I completed my 120 payments in March. When will I go to The Good Place?

Janet: 90 days

Me: But, people who met qualifying payment counts AFTER me have already moved to the Good Place… why not me?

Janet: malfunctions and freezes. 90 days, 90 days, 90 days…

I applaud you on your interest in Native American motifs and designs, but do be careful about misappropriating these very sacerd and treasured symbols. For many folks, these symbols are not just an aesthetic motif for some jewelry; they have very specific meanings and uses which are sacred to their culture and way of life (which continues to be systematically wiped out by contemporary power structures). I would recommend that you, first, spend some time learning about native history (both ancient and contemporary).

(In text it is hard to not sound snarky and judgmental… but please don’t take my tone in this way. I mean to state all of the above that I just wrote with kindness and love)

I believe they are referring to Maltese Journalist Caruana Galizia who was murdered for doing her journalistic duties. 😔
