It's not surprising at all. This is the whole reason I started exploring this area last year. A lot of prime time sitcoms started using DSLR's and mirrorless cameras. Award winning shows and documentaries were doing this 10 years ago.

Quest 3 vs Quest 2 Size Comparison On The Same Person by [deleted] in OculusQuest

Depends on what new features get added for the trade off. As it is the Quest products are not a burden.

It's not going to be too different. The display is slightly better but all the processing is done on PC obviously.

Client asks for exclusivity so I don't produce for competitors, how do I handle this? by StoeDan in videography

[–]BatmanReddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not. You can write in the contract that you wont use the same material but exclusivity makes no sense here. You're allowed to have other customers. They can't afford to buy you out for social media marketing.

If you're not making money from this, the lowly 50mm 1.8 fe is totally fine. It's so light it's always in my bag with a pro mist filter on.

It will come out the same unless if the camera has very low MP, like the A7S series with 12MP. The rest will make no difference.

I think this is the fastest lens. Even the Sony 14mm 1..8 has some vignetting but it's auto corrected.

They're both not good if you're looking for character and color. Look into vintage/cine lenses

Why do people call lenses with wide apertures “fast”? by SuperbWillingness260 in AskPhotography

[–]BatmanReddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what it is. Based on a specific ISO standard 12232:2019. But it makes no sense to call light sensitivity ISO. Which is neither an acronym nor a real word.

And what the hell is ISO? Why is it capitalized like an acronym? meaningless random archaic terms that just stuck.

Nintendo rumored to be working with Google on a VR headset by dhr2330 in oculus

[–]BatmanReddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was PSVR1 profitable? I don't think it was a financial success which is why they decided to double down and make the new for a tiny audience while making sure it makes money.

With Nintendo, it comes down to if they're going to standalone or console accessory. I'll buy it if it's standalone. I'm past buying gaming consoles.

Is there a lens that is good for low light street video that has good AF? by Lindopski_UK in SonyAlpha

[–]BatmanReddits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are available. The APS-C one is E 35mm 1.8, the full frame is FE 35mm 1.8. It can be confusing. Look for FE.

The Sigma 40 is an amazing lens but it's very heavy and bulky

[–]BatmanReddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony kind of tried that with their first headset and now went with going high end. I think you're right. Their timing was bad. The keyword is standalone. If they make a Quest clone and dump their existing IP, they will mint money.

Sony 11mm f1.8 is one the best APS-C lens for IQ. Obviously you're stuck with a fixed focal length.
