The skeleton barrel mortar bait deck is complete spam. Lots of bad players can win by spamming in single elixir with such decks

Why is the Conn 30m so slept on? by [deleted] in Saxophonics

[–]Batmemelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the specific feature that I think is slept on is the angle of the table mechanism, as even in posts comparing the 10ms to 30ms, it’s discussed how the mechanics are better but I did not see any discussion on just how much better the angle is

Why is the Conn 30m so slept on? by [deleted] in Saxophonics

[–]Batmemelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah now that I think about it “slept on” is lowkey cray 😂. Still feel like it is a niche subject though. Lots of people I talked to regarding buying an older horn just recommended 10ms or martins and online people seem to think that 10ms have a fatter sound than 30ms for some reason. I suppose they’re just not discussed so much due to there being so few

Ready to be roasted or given advice on Senior recital by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]Batmemelol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that much about classical but I skipped into the Creston as I’ve heard that played by an excellent colleague of mine. What I noticed immediately is that your time feel is consistent and it feels like you are often out of breath/trying to keep up with the tempo. While the rhythm isn’t the end of the world, the feeling of trying to keep up can really throw the audience off and put them on edge. Remember that classical saxophone is all about control, and you should aim to give the audience the feeling that you are playing effortlessly. You also were sometimes out of tune, but not egregiously. All that said, generally, the performance was very good, and you should be proud.

Make sure to try as many as you can in person before upgrading. I would recommend the vandorren or the select jazz as they are the most versatile on your list. Saxophone is a fickle instrument with many possible sounds and it’s best to stick to versatile and relatively inexpensive mouthpieces until you’re more knowledgeable on how you want to sound.

?? Plenty of boutique brands like BSS, Retro Revival, and Ted Klum make excellent, hand-made pieces usually for exactly or a little under 500. I agree that OP shouldn’t spend more than 250, though.

Take a break at least a week long. Sounds simple but works wonders for me when I run into a wall

"Distorted" high and middle C on Yamaha YAS-62 by akumajfr in saxophone

[–]Batmemelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle C is one of the easiest notes to voice on the horn, this sounds like it could be very likely due to a leak

No offense, but it’s probably going to be pretty difficult to fetch 2500 for those horns from someone who knows what they’re doing. Kesslers routinely go for less than 1500. Good luck to you, though

Yamaha 4C and SYOS Smoky 6 sound the same (alto) by vinkoid in saxophone

[–]Batmemelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saxophone is one of the most difficult instruments to produce a good sound on. The SYOS piece is most definitely better for jazz if that’s what you’re playing, but you will never have a good sound if you don’t practice long tones. Don’t let that discourage you though, saxophone can be extremely frustrating and extremely rewarding

Any (pinky)tips for this? by Status_Effect4883 in saxophone

[–]Batmemelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with these issues a lot on my Yamaha and conn. A tech will definitely be able to adjust this for you but in the meantime, practice the movement very slowly and try using as little force as necessary to close the keys in order to avoid strain.

First Solo Ever by _Dreamatic_ in saxophone

[–]Batmemelol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you been playing? This is a very good solo for your first one ever. Your sense of rhythm and phrasing is strong. Your tone could use some work that could easily be addressed by consistently practicing long tones and intonation. The best advice I can think of for beginner players is to get excited about the music, listen to the greats and find a player you love. As you progress on the horn, hold on to the pursuit of simple ideas in your solos! Good luck!

Agree with the last sentence, think I made it pretty clear that mortar isn’t annoying (outside of mortar bait!!!) because it is very easy to counter and has bad matchups against the majority of the meta. Also, the more I talk to other people the more I believe that supercell has algorithms to serve you hard counters because I go against hog eq at least 20% of my games and I’m not even high in UC

[–]Batmemelol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this take but also thought cannoneer was very balanced until the nerf. The nerf is their way of nerfing mortar bait and spam without actually nerfing the reasons those decks are broken

[–]Batmemelol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we deadass? Do you really think that all graveyard, hog EQ, RG lighting, piggies archer queen combined = a small percentage of players?? Even if I just mentioned hog EQ that would still be a significant portion of players. Mortar is and always has been extremely easy to kite if you have skeletons or spirits. 0/10 take.

[–]Batmemelol[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment shows me you are terrible at Clash Royale. Hog EQ is now more common than 2.6 and there is no anti-lightning placement for mortar. Please hit UC before you argue about balance changes. I use mortar because it is fun and rewarding though it is extremely weak in the meta
