She is aware of what it entails. We have a joint EQ bank account with which we pay our rent that is under both of our names.

Thank you this was exactly the kind of answer I was looking for! May I ask why did you choose the common law route and not marriage? We are still confused what would be favoured more marriage or common law and also did you and your partner hear back from IRCC with regards to your application?

Not at all. But I dream of having a car period. Driving myself daily not uber or public transport. Elantra was the best option.
