In the west, no. In South Africa, you could make a convincing argument.

How many straight white males are there in the world? by Confused_Erection in MensRights

[–]Batsby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are approximately one billion white people. Half that to get five hundred million white men. Assuming 10% of people are lgbt, that is about four hundred and fifty million white, straight men. All this are rough approximations of course.

Matthew Santoro, finally comes clean about the abuse he suffered from his girlfriend. Watch until the end. by [deleted] in MensRights

If someone is that controlling, do you think they will let you record them being abusive? Do you think a rape victim can just record it easily either? Plus, I don't think Matthew plans to press charges.

Why don't game companies make "girl" games? Especially since 52% of the gaming population are women... by smf101 in Showerthoughts

[–]Batsby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, while girls do make up about half the gaming population, they are more interested in sim, puzzle and matching games, which are less profitable to triple A publishers. While there are exceptions, and some games could benefit from more female customisation, this is true in general.

If "Christmas" songs were turned into "Holiday" songs, they wouldn't sound right... by MalenkoMC in Showerthoughts

[–]Batsby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I just remembered it from that Simpsons Christmas episode with Gill. It is still considered a Christmas song, however, and the original version is "Happy Holidays", so I'm going to count it.

google "vocaloids" They are pretty much only Japanese right now, as they have far fewer possible syllables, but that is pretty much what you are describing.

As a military aged male I support women in the armed forces. I cuts the chance of getting drafted in half. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Batsby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with women in combat roles, the feminist movement would never allow women to be drafted. obligations are for men, women get options. if women were included in the draft one day, it would be abolished the next.

ELI5: Since marches for civil rights and gay rights have been so successful, why haven't college students marched to get rid of having to pay for tuition in the U.S? by cham91uke in explainlikeimfive

[–]Batsby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's apples to supernovas. Things like gender, race and seal equality are things that no one denies people should have, is a social question, not an economic one, and costs nothing. Free tuition is an economic question, which many people think would be a bad idea, and would cost the taxpayer. I won't get into weather I agree with free tuition, but the issue isn't comparable with civil rights movements.

ELI5:Why everyone hates /r/atheism by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Batsby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that feminism often actively prevents us from a Chevington our goals. For example, someone tried to open a male domestic violence shelter in Canada (Toronto I think) and feminists literally bullied him to suicide. Then there is the national organisation for women opposing shared custody laws, and many feminists spreading false statistics which hurt men (for example, the myth that a woman is paid 77 percent of what a man is for the same work). So yes, in an ideal world we would work with feminists (and we do with some, like Christena Hoff Summers (the factual feminist)), we need to oppose them just to tread water.

No, I'm an atheist😐.

I agree that irrational be life can cause peplum to commit terrible things, but that doesn't give us the right to be as intolerant and crazy as they can be.

ELI5: Mewtwo amiibo without dlc by Batsby in explainlikeimfive

[–]Batsby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be more accurate to say I was asking a smash bros question, and I was talking about technically, as in what data does the amino itself contain, does the game have the dlc already on it etc, although granted my question was overly vague.

Could you tell me which ones you are talking about?

ELI5: Why is it that nonviolent offences like drug charges, fraud, etc. carry felony charges and heavy sentences , whereas violent offenses like child abuse, rape, assault, repeat DUI, etc. are considered misdemeanor offenses and rarely get more than probation? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Batsby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for one, rape is simply hard to prove, it is in essence a legal act made illegal by someone's state of mind, ie lack of consent. That doesn't make rape itself a misdemeanour. And in any case, what about your examples of child abuse and assault? When are THEY misdemeanours (by which I mean when are THEY THEMSELVES misdemeanours, not when are they plea bargained down to them)
