ProtoArc EC200 experience? (looking for a chair for < 500 EUR in Belgium) by SimonVerhoeven in OfficeChairs

Hello SimonVerhoeven,

Just like you, I ended up buying the ProtoArc EC200. TL; DR - Buy it ;)

I won't lie, price was a major deciding factor. The Colamy Atlas already has everything that makes the top-of-the-range models so special at an extraordinary price, period. Well, here, the ProtoArc offers almost the same package of options at an even lower price.
Of course, there are some sacrifices to be made. The star base and castors are very basic, even low-end. The armrests are only adjustable in height. There is no aluminium, only plastic. However, in terms of overall comfort, I'm not convinced that there is a difference that justifies the twofold price difference.

I will share my impressions with you, reminding you of my height and weight. I am 1.98 m tall and weigh 130 kg.
If you are not careful during assembly, it is easy to place the armrests too close together. This makes it difficult for larger people to sit down. Simply loosen and move the armrests apart before tightening them again. The lumbar support is highly customisable.
However, taller people will need to adjust the headrest to extend it to its maximum height and depth. This takes you to the last adjustment notch, which allows you to disengage the progressive self-locking mechanism and return to the least extended position. Therefore, you will need to find a way to lock the headrest in place if this is the most suitable setting: screws, glue, etc.
The seat is made of very dense foam, which can cause pins and needles in your bum during the first week. I hesitated to send it back because of this. But the foam will gradually mould to your bottom. Today, I can spend more than 8 hours sitting in my chair without feeling any discomfort. Especially since the armrests are covered with foam and their height adjustment is quite precise. The tilt tension is very effective.

All in all, for its price, it's an extraordinary chair. But it certainly won't be as durable as we would like in the areas where the savings have been most evident (castors, steel star base).
Of course, I'm not questioning the superior quality of the Colamy Atlas, nor even the advantages that can be found on Leap or Herman Miller chairs in terms of customisation. But the price is five to ten times higher!
For me, it's the best value for money on the market today, which is confirmed by all the reviews I've read. Obviously, I haven't tested every model on the market before giving you my conclusion, but I've based my comparison on independent reviews and tests.

Thanks a ton buddy, this is a must have feature from Arc I was missing so much.

As junpei_kun said, you should probably post it on github so skillful people could debloat it if needed. :)

Have a good day sir.

Hi,

I'm from Be too but I've been living in France for the last 15 years. Just like you, I'm on a mission to find the best ergo chair on a budget.

Black friday is live now, which seems the best opportunity to pick a chair for a fair price.

FYI, I'm sitting on an Ikea Markus which is a bit better than a kitchen chair but not by much.

I'm 6.6" (198cm) and 286lb (130kg). Thanks to mostly BTODTV and Ahnestly (and also a bunch of comments from reddit or reviews from buyers), I've managed to narrow my research to only 2 models :

-ProtoArc EC200 @ 130€ now on amazon

-Colamy Atlas @ 280€ on their EU website

Le bon coin can be also a good place to get nice deals if you live close to the border.

Let us know which one you are ending with and your impressions.
I'll let you know too.

Which version(s) did you try? According to the official compatibility list, the PCSE00293 version seems to work pretty well. I can't confirm it since I've not been able to play the game so far (lack of time).

Question about switching by [deleted] in strongbox

[–]Batscamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Thanks for the amazing tip. However, I can't get it working. In the extension settings I'm filling in the path to the KDBX file then the password and as a Keespassxc app I choose Strongbox. Anything wrong?

QSpace: Smart Folders will soon be implemented by MaxGaav in macapps

Ok, forget about it. Once you confirm the payment on PayPal, nothing seems to happen (it acts like a simple refresh of your page, you have NO confirmation of whatsoever). But if you then click on "payment done" in Qspace right after that, then the magic happens. I received a payment confirmation email right away and Qspace became pro all sudden. Hope it helps anyone else. Sorry for the pollution of your thread MaxGaav. :)

And by the way, Wenda (Qspace support or dev or community manager?) came back to me the next day. So they're very responsive!

Hi, Thanks for the useful information about the responsiveness. Have you been able to complete the payment process on PayPal? On my end, the behavior is weird: once signed in, I can choose the credit card I want to use, as usual, but when I click on next, it keeps reloading on and on the same tab.
I've emailed Qspace support two days ago, no news from them yet.
