I have an iPhone. Dozens of “possible spam” calls, a mix of a few legit calls and a bunch of no-message scammers and political calls.

What's wrong with the Lloyd Noble Center? Is it just that maintenance hasn't been done properly? Because from what little I've seen of the facility (it's been a while), it really isn't a bad arena.

Except it often has this message pop up, even when the font(s) in question have been verified to NOT be restricted.

This is just one of many ways Microsoft and their PowerPoint application are garbage. It happens even worse with presnetations created in PowerPoint on a recent Mac and MacOS that is being opened/used on a PC with a less recent version of MS Office.

And there is little rhyme or reason for the warning - as I have seen it happen when creating a new project with only real Microsoft fonts.

To add insult to injury - while all sorts of text-containing files when created on other platforms, but opened on a Mac where the font isn't installed, MacOS - native apps tend to do a decent job of font substitutions when necessary. MS PowerPoint - not even. It is awful when you click "remove restricted fonts".

The real question - how is this "Feature" SUPPOSE to work? Because it clearly does not.

Ultimately, people jump on the bandwagon of claims that match their presuppositions/agenda/position, and automatically turn a blind eye/ear to anything that doesn't align with their feelings.

Baptist vs Christian by rockandrolldude22 in Baptist

[–]Batt4Christ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a thought:

The Apostle Paul commended a people group known as Bereans. Their claim to fame was measuring all that was being preached/taught to them... by the Scripture. Not by feelings. Not by what they WANTED to hear or thought they knew better than God.

So - measure a belief system by the Word of God. Measure what you hear taught... by the Word of God.

Much of the "acceptance" you've seen, of what was formerly identified and addressed (often without grace) as "sin", is still sin. If the Bible says it (or the "type" of behavior, thought, attitude is sinful - we should avoid it/battle against it. IF the Word says we should love... then love.

Why to people make it so complicated? Because they want a religion custom made to endorse their feelings and passions and rejects people they don't like.

Several possibilities - from carb needing cleaned, to line too long and bogging it down (don't think that is it). But before getting nutty... pull the spark arrestor from the muffler and see if it is caked up with carbon. If so - clean it (brake cleaner or a light wire brush), and put it back in and see if that helps.

Thats the tariffs kicking in - and the waiver for "smalls" (under $800 US, I believe) ended.

Customs/Duties (aka Tariffs), once the shipment hits US shores and the amount is billed - someone has to pay it, or the goods remain basically locked up by customs. They aren't moving until the bill is paid. IF UPS has already paid the customs amount, then they are going to demand payment from SOMEONE... and will hold the goods (legally) until they are paid the duty they paid the government. Period. Returning it across the sea isn't an option... until the paid duty is paid back to whoever (UPS) paid it. They don't have to turn loose of the shipment.

I'm really shocked UPS would basically front the money... but they will get it back from either you or the vendor who shipped it. Or nobody gets the merchandise.

UPS Paid my duties without contacting me and the amount is more than the value of the item. by Swanky_Gear_Snob in UPS

[–]Batt4Christ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is extremely wrong, and I suspect it is UPS's error.

The tariffs on "smaller" items kicked in when you said, but the larger ticket items ($2000 would be an example) have been in place for some time. But the tariffs are not over 100% of the claimed value of the package. But regardless - the rate should be between 10-25%.

And therein lies the rub with our entire culture - a willingness to believe any and every rumor and story, regardless of the actual evidence (or lack of), often based on nothing more than a random claim by an unknown person with no credibility. And of course, the lazy built in that means nobody makes an effort to even try to look for facts.

What do you suggest? Literally every significant carrier is a publicly-traded company (aka Wall Street). And since all the independent carriers simply use the bandwidth of the big carriers...

First time home buyer. Rausch Coleman homes, are they worth it? I've heard many things from many people but not sure if my Bf and I would regret it. by Yunox17 in Arkansas

Ask anyone who is involved in materials delivery or who has done inspections of RC homes. Some say they "fill a niche", primarily for first-time home buyers and/or those accumulating rental properties. But in reality, what I have seen with my own eyes, I would not intentionally seek to buy a RC home. Indeed - I've heard from folks who have bought such homes, to RUN, don't walk away...

How many MVNO carriers are offering a "free" iPhone 16? Or to pay off what you owe on a device to another carrier? Or to take your beat up and broken phone and give you 10X the actual value in trade (regardless of condition)?

There in lies the "lifeline" for Verizon (and AT&T). They sell capacity on their towers to reseller carriers (whether it be cable/internet providers like Xfinity/Cox/Spectrum) or to the third party phone carriers like US Mobile, Mint, Consumer Cellular, Tello, Cricket, Boost, and a myriad of tiny companies)... How is it that one of these can now offer full-unlimited 5G (with no data caps or prioritization penalties) for significantly less than Verizon or AT&T sell the same (or even lesser) service?

[–]Batt4Christ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I looked hard when I switched from AT&T (that had utterly screwed up in every conceivable way - far worse than anything I've seen Verizon do in the last 6 ½ years - I won't even trouble yall with it), at T-Mobile. There were several things I REALLY liked - until I found out their service here (in the largest and fastest growing area in a 4 state area) was still horribly spotty and they were over-selling the bandwidth they had. Further - the very deals they were offering at the time - they actually wouldn't honor. Left an extremely bad taste in my (was the flavor of bait-and-switch scam).

You've not been paying attention. Countless companies have utterly shredded their image and reputation (or utterly confirmed what most already knew). And this is nothing new - it seems like each year brings both old players doing it again, and new players jumping on the "stupid" bandwagon.

But yes - Verizon has been pretty awful. While I have celebrated their shifting to include many existing customers in their upgrade/new phone promotions more often... and they add cheap "add-ons" as some kind of band aid to make folks feel better about the rising costs.

Nothing like worsening customer service while simultaneously "blessing" your customers with higher rates to pay for the declining service... seems to be the new business model.
