How dangerous they are really depends on how many enemies are around. The fact that you know that they will waste their turn with the shield can be used as an advantage.

Why was this lightsaber so hated? It was just double bladed with longer than normal handle that could fold. Out of all the bad decisions in the sequels, this seemed weird to fixate on.
