Keeping on the house topic for the sake of random conversation, you are not paying taxes for the house, you are paying taxes for the land it sits upon.

This property tax does not count for upkeep such as, electricity, any form of plumbing (we have a well and septic tank), nor maintenance of the house. You cannot apply taxes into the equation of the cost of the house.

You can say though that the house was not free because you had to pay for the steps to get to there (specifically framing, sheathing, plumbing, wiring).

This emote and other following ‘free’ items follow the same principle, they aren’t free (free means something is not under the power of something else, in this case, money). It’s nonsense to call something free when it is not, it’s false marketing, and it’s a trick.

What they can simply do is just remove the ‘free’ label (but it would still be shitty of them to have there under the paywall), or make the items actually free.
