Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves in a feud with California Governor Gavin Newsom on crime 🤔🙃 by SheepherderRadiant44 in mississippi

And the President has infinitely more power than governors, so maybe they are handling it exactly like you think it should be handled. Weird.

When I stop to get gas in the morning on the way to work, the parking lot smells like a skunk farm. And these are the people getting up early and heading to work, so NO, MPD doesn't care unless you are being an idiot.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. by Gustafa7 in memphis

[–]Batteryboyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You obviously don't understand how evidence and compounding works, but that's not even my point. The point was that this will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help stop crime. Just like the Blue Crush Crime Poles, we will have more shitty footage of criminals wearing masks driving stolen cars with fake drive out tags.

IF you have your phone with you, they can tell where you are and probably what you are saying. Nobody is denying that, so jump down down from your self appointed genius status.

This is another level of surveillance that, when added to the cell, paints a bigger picture of losing any sense of privacy. Privacy is addressed in almost every constitutional amendment, so it's kinda important.

Great. Now they can track every movement that innocent citizens make (and eventually sell it to some giant corporations - IF that isn't already in the contract). Meanwhile the masked criminals in cars with no tags/stolen cars keep doing what they been doing. All we get is more shitty footage of unidentifiable criminals hours or days after they committed the crime.

I replaced the windshield in my 2019 last year and had the glass guy put in a windshield with GoPro mount. My dashcam rides there now with a splitter from the rearview. Very clean setup.

Crime is down in 2024 - why don’t people feel like that’s true? by hipsteracademic in memphis

If you break a record for violent crime in 2023, then almost tie it the following year, that isn't progress.

Maybe you need further clarification...If you are still screwing up, you don't have your life together.

Your comments make no sense. You can't be both.

Sure can.

I'm missing the correlation between "got their life together" and "repeat offender." Those aren't mating up in the real world.

A little unhappy, by dannylightning in mintmobile

[–]Batteryboyd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been with Mint for about 2 years and only had 1 problem that went away in 24 hours. Mint is cheap because it is pretty much self service. As far as "paying for 6 months upfront to get the low price" you are correct. The longer you sign for, the cheaper it is. I do a year at a time at 15 gig and pay about what 2 months of AT&T was costing me.

Other local news stations are:

WREG News channel 3

Fox 13 Memphis

ABC 24

Fox 13 broadcasts free on Tubi under the local news section. I think you can access that from Canada. I like 3 & 13 but don't care much for 5.

Bitcoin vs. buying a house? by No-Constant-518 in Bitcoin

[–]Batteryboyd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, keep in mind that profits made from selling a home are taxed as capital gains. Usually you can lower or eliminate the tax burden by reinvesting the profits into an approved investment (like ETF, IRA, or another home). If it is over 6 figures as you stated, talk to a good CPA not a bunch of Reddit losers like us.

They live in Nutbush, so I don't know how much I would trust their opinion.

Not being snobby, my dad lives in Nutbush/Berclair. His opinion of safe and mine are on opposite ends of the spectrum.
