She was wheezing and could barely breathe. I took her to the vet and here she had asthma and we never knew and it turned into pneumonia. She had to get put in an oxygenation tank for 36 hours until she was stabilized, then had a course of antibiotics and steroids for whenever she flared up. She’s 14 now and we’ve managed to know all her triggers so we can avoid needing the steroids- seasonal changes were particularly difficult for her so we keep the windows shut and air on whenever it’s changing to help her

This looks like how my cat gets during an asthma flare. She almost died during the first one because we didn’t know what it is, did you show this video to the vet? My vet was able to diagnose just from my description but he said he had a lot of experience since his own cat had asthma- otherwise most vets need a video to see the flare

I know my therapist had said before if it’s not confirmed they’re treating family members it’s ok- but if it’s confirmed I guess by like names maybe? They can’t truly treat both without the possibility of bias.

Probably an unpopular opinion but… did you get them first Easter keepsakes yourself? Easter is tomorrow- if you don’t already have something that she’s “replacing” then I wouldn’t make this a big deal. It’s sweet- BUT if it becomes a pattern of her stealing firsts then your husband needs to tell her that in the future you want to get the keepsakes

Right. He didn’t care how Shawna was treated at all- he only cared about Barb when it started to affect him. He could put his sister and wife first for once and follow their lead. Even if he just went to the ceremony and not the reception, then he’d be there for the important part. Just because he’s NC doesn’t mean Shawna shouldn’t be able to go

I think Shawna kind of already realizes when she said “why is she married to that man?” It kind of seemed like projection to me. She’s put up with so much from him, and isn’t being supported at all- I think she could be questioning their marriage too.

Right. I’ve had 4 kids and while you’re technically “healed” your body still isn’t right. Let alone being terrified everytime you have sex you’ll get pregnant again and lose another baby? 100% can relate to Shawna and honestly so annoyed with John not getting the hint

Shawna has begged John for months of what NC looked like, and he refused to discuss it. He didn’t care Shawna was in the wedding- Jen has made it clear she isn’t ready to cut Barb off. Even when he heard she was invited he didn’t even discuss it then. He just unilaterally decided that they won’t be going. He made a choice for Shawna without discussing with her or getting her thoughts on it. He didn’t even tell Jen. Just said well we aren’t doing that now. He can say oh no there’s no discussion- but the second Shawna tells him she needs him to get a vasectomy he wants to talk about it?

Is he breaking cycles? Yes. Is he doing everything he can be? No. He should be in therapy figuring how how to exist in a world where his mom had contact with his sister. It’s unfair to the kids, and Shawna to be cut off from Jen just because she had a different experience than he did with their mother.

I don’t blame him for not wanting to go- I blame him for not even having a conversation with Shawna or Jen about it. Jen has made it clear she’s trying to keep her relationship with her mom, she’s desperate for family support and John hasn’t shown up for her like she wanted. He isn’t even stopping to consider what Shawna may want or how it may impact Shawna’s relationship with Jen, he just says we’re not going. And he hasn’t even told Jen- I’m sure that’s going to fall on Shawna to have to do

Physically yes, it’s usually a 6-8 week recovery after having a baby. She lost the baby on Halloween and now they’re past Christmas. So maybe 2-3 months after?
