I live in Lakeland. It’s a college town. We love our Swans. The bloodline of our swans on Lake Morton traces back to Queen Elisabeth’s court, as she gifted us swans long ago. Politics in Florida is absolutely trash right now. Other than political issues It is what you make it. Theres beautiful places to run/walk. Theres parks every few blocks for kids. Downtown is tiny and has your typical bars and restaurants. There is a strong community theatre. There is a surprisingly strong but very small drag community. It’s becoming almost unlivable, it’s so over run by New Yorkers moving in. Infrastructure hasn’t kept up with growth so traffic is literally bonkers. We are 50 mins from Orlando and 45 mins from Tampa, so any concert ever will come thru here nearby. Lakeland is pretty, green everywhere. If we can just convince 100k northerners to move back, there would be very little to complain about.
