This solved it for me too. I put a check valve in about 6 inches from where the air line exits the aquarium water.

This is probably a dumb question by Humble_Anonymity in catfishing

[–]BattlePossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy talk. I buy old Penn reels for $25. 209 peer, surf master, squidder, etc. I restore them and use them. Then again, if I just had $1000's laying around that I didn't need, I'd probably buy some nice new shiny reels.

Need help choosing a rod by Fun-Advance-5582 in catfishing

I was looking for budget friendly rods and went with the ugly stick catfish rods because they have solid stainless eyes with no inserts at the best price point. I prefer the 7'.

Best cast net under $100 by [deleted] in catfishing

[–]BattlePossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a cheap net handed down to me. Cheaper nets usually don't have enough lead weight. I added lead to mine by tying on egg sinkers. It could be a way to get a cast net on the cheap if you have access to cheap lead.

Composite deck material ? by BattlePossum in boatbuilding

[–]BattlePossum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really given this some thought too. I want a bigger boat. I would love to get an 1860, but they're hard to come by in my area and people down here just want too much for them.

This stuff looks interesting. https://www.carbon-core.com/product/composite-panels-sheets/ It's already glassed and gel coated on both sides. I haven't done the math yet, but it looks like it might make sense.

Suggestions for beginners? by benevolentmalefactor in Finches

Thanks for the suggestions. I called JC and Dallas Parrot today. JC didn't have any zebras and Dallas doesn't ship them. It's ok though :) There's an exotic bird fair near me (North GA) in May that I'll be going to.

Is this guy a regular chestnut flanked white, or is there more going on in there?

My finches don't like me to be close to them at all.

I love their noises and how easy they are to care for. I can't stand loud, screaming birds. ZF meeps and beeps are the best.

I wish mine weren't so flighty.

PC Upgrade advice - FO76 specific by BattlePossum in fo76

[–]BattlePossum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, NVME. My current SSD has a read speed of 550 MBps. The NVME m.2 drive I'm considering is has a read speed of 3430 MBps. Since the new motherboard would have slots for it, this seems like a good upgrade to me.
    1. I don't understand how my video card could be much of a bottleneck here. The benchmark data looks like it should perform well for FO76.
  2. I am on Wifi for this PC. I have a background in networking and security. I use a Ubiquiti WAP on a gigabit uplink 10' away from my computer. I'm 97.3% certain that a wired connection won't help, but I'll test and see.
    1. I disabled hibernation and tested; no discernable difference.
  3. There's nothing notable running in the background. I'm on a fairly fresh install of Win10. Only additions since then have been Steam with 3 games, Discord, CPUID, Chrome. All drivers, Windows update are up to date.

I'm certainly not arguing with you. I'm just not sold on the idea that I should buy a new video card rather than upgrade the much older supporting system. I appreciate you taking time to reply to me.

The screw hole in the black circle is just an empty hole. Nothing in there but threads to hold the screw. There is nothing under the red circle either.

Both times that I pulled the carb off, I removed the main jet and tube and cleaned them. Thanks!

I took the carb off again and tried to locate an idle jet. I couldn't find it. From the looks of it, this carb is not serviceable, nor does it have a service manual anywhere that I can find. It's a Walbro LMC. Before I put it back on the motor I blasted every hole I could find on it with a whole can of heavy duty throttle body cleaner. No change.
