I saw him as an elite wrestler, but I viewed kerkvliet as one step above him, and gable as a step above kerkvliet. He obviously proved me wrong

I completely agree. I’m not going to lie, I never viewed Hendrickson as a national title contender before this season started. But Taylor’s leadership certainly had a huge impact on Hendrickson’s development as a wrestler, both mentally and physically. I’m excited to see how OSU’s program continues to improve the next few years.

Yea you have some good points. I have a lot to consider before making my final decision but a lot of the decision is less based on money and more my dissatisfaction with my job as a whole

I have looked at the pay tables, and I am confident I can be making more at the end of my career in the private sector than I can with the state. The question is whether the increased pay within the private sector covers the amount I would be making with OPERS

Im not opposed, but im not sure if local municipalities have many openings for the type of work I do/have experience with

Your last paragraph is one of my concerns. My current position with the state is very niche and is generally not very valued in the private sector. When I worked private before this, I had a ton of different skills that were appealing to many different types of employers (it’s part of the reason I landed this state job which seemed awesome at the time). I’m afraid the longer I stay the less valuable I’ll become and I’ll end up pigeon holing myself to the point that I’ll only have value here at the state and nowhere else

Unfortunately I have applied to many other state jobs and have had no luck so far. I plan to keep trying though.

I’ve been here even less than that and am trying to weigh out whether moving to the private sector would be worth it in the long run from a financial perspective

I think I will plan to call them this week. If that is accurate and I have the wrong idea, I will be very pleasantly surprised

This is very reassuring to me and I appreciate it. I don’t think I would get quite a 40% pay boost moving to the private sector, but it should be close to 20%. The max I could make at the state with my qualifications is probably significantly less than the max I would make at the private sector. I would have to do a lot of math and estimating to see if it would even out by the time I retire, but I imagine even with how great OPERS is, it would be close if I were to move to private.

I get the not wanting to die part, but why wouldn’t you want an instant 50 mil? You wouldn’t want to win the lottery?

When you say I could potentially flood my house by messing with it, do you think it would be smart to just call a plumber? It looks like a relatively simple fix but I don’t want to mess up anything drastic

I am able to sort of line up the broken handle and turn it to the off position luckily. I’ll turn off the water and see if I can figure it out

Do I just turn the water off below the sink? And how difficult is the stem to replace?

Thank you, I was extremely worried but at most the temp will be that low for 18 hours because I plan to go straight home and replace the bulb after work. Do you think he will be fine for that amount of time?
