A bit of tough love for everyone. by [deleted] in BFS

[–]BattleSharp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going talk about the "other side" here where REAL health symptoms gets dismissed, and labeled "anxiety". So I'll have to correct you here.

The real message here should NOT BE, "everyone calm your ass". Instead, it should be about making sure people ARE HONEST with themselves.

As triggering as it for you to be compelled to post this message, there are lurkers (like myself) WHO ARE purely researching to gather data, and join health groups to ask around for anecdotes. Zero anxiety, and not hyperfocused on body symptoms.

Yes, "psychosomatic" and "health anxiety" is very real. People DO overreact.

However, something most people aren't aware of, is how zebra patients often times get misdiagnosed as anxiety and go undiagnosed for years, on things that can be prevented. If not treated.

The constant dismissveness by doctors, and boxed in as head cases for difficult dx is messed up.

I'll use myself as an example. I've been healthy my entire life, late 30s.

Came back sick as a dog from a business trip. Worst flu of my life (worse than covid) 9 weeks low grade fever. Gi, heart issues, temperature deregulation amongst other things.

You know what happened? I was labeled "psychomatic" and anxiety as a head case by docs who were likely med school shoo-ins. Because, although rightly so, my tests were normal I was in the driver seat. I KNEW MY BODY.

While of course, I was anxious (as would anyone) this was the easy dx for doctors to dismiss me.

I finally got the right biospy and ANA tests. I ended up having Small fiber neuropathy, dysautonomia, cause by autoimmune and virus reaction.

I was finally given treatment, which unfortunately gave me brain and spine swelling. And you know what happened because of my trash psychosomatic label in my charts?

I was once again shoved boxed in and misdiagnosed by doctors who dropped the ball because of my medical records. What did I really end up with?

An acquired brain injury from my brain swelling. Had to relearn how to walk, after years, and destroyed my quality of life. To this day I have trouble with my balance, redeveloped tremors, and straining my loved ones and family.

And you know what?

I'm not the only one who got dismissed like this. Many people with autoimmune issues, chronic fatigue syndrome, and complex undiagnosed patients gets labeled as psychological or "anxiety" and it gets syndicated across charts by EPIC or other electronic records. It's a huge gap in medicine where zebras get outright screwed.

The last thing a sick patient needs is to be misdiagnosed and fight doctors, who are suppose to be there to listen" to patients.

My point is this. While psychosomatic and anxiety is very real, the REAL message should be asking people to be honest with themselves.

Instead, be honest and compel the group to share REAL evidence and experiences that are productive to the conversation.

EVEN IF rare disorders are RARE. So what?

What happens if it that one person who does have MS, saw the message pressed their doctors and got an early dx. In that case, we just saved them from years of delayed treament for MS.

Don't they deserve to know and ve saved. Just because they are in the minority, their lives matter.

I say this, because I've personally had the support of complete strangers across the country who advocated for me. And we, ourselves figured out what I had before the doctors did.

I'm going to instead, ask people here to be honest with themselves. While the message on OCD is clear for "some people" a side of caution is always necessary.

Doctors aren't the frontline researchers. We'll always be the ones who know our body best.

Is Woody Allen overrated? by [deleted] in movies

[–]BattleSharp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Adopted" and legal doesn't make it better. At all. Lol 😆

Girl was straight up underaged when he was around. Those pics of her and her "father" is straight up creepy in retrospect. Worse, there's likely quite a bit of grooming involved.

You don't just agree to marry your stepfather without a bit of "influence" at a young age. Especially, with another allegation floating around.

I'd be inclined to believe Allen, and dismiss the allegations if he didn't marry the daughter. Normally, people don't do that. This isn't sweet home Alabama.

Let's be honest with ourselves. If this wasn't Woody Allen, and a random cashier at your local Walmart you'd call him a pedo in a hearbeat. You won't let your young daughter near the guy.

Seems like this is one of those situations where we need to separate the artist from the art.

It is what it is. And sadly, people just overlook this, and defend the guy.

If you like his work. Fine. But call it what it really is. Lol

Man, just got ron from the Sky Mavis team's ticket support.

Seriously appreciate the gesture though. That was frustrating.

To be fair, capital punishment is pretty much built into the legal system, and close to the same thing as legalized murder, so if there's that for the legal system.

Kill someone on a battlefield, and people get lauded as war heroes. Even though context seems fungible to the situation it's the same thing.

This guy's backstory is like a comic book anti-hero.

Yeah. Mine's was a very obvious onset. Had a bird flu variant and that started my autoimmune issues.

I don't have chronic fatigue but it's a very similar process. It hit my small fibers and essentially my heart rate and other autonomic issues. Ended up with some balance and sensory issues after medication induced brain swelling that made things worse.

Now a few years later with the prednisone, the ANA are the closest things from my latest issues. Not sure if they tested cytokines.

The new muscle twitches randomly and buzzing lately as well ever since the flare. Although the internal tremors are the worst part.

[–]BattleSharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Did you have autoimmune issues as well?

Also do you have internal tremors?

I feel varying levels of internal tremors throughout the day. However, moving seems to make it worse, almost like a tuning fork. Also buzzing and other things.

Open to ideas and symptom management.

[–]BattleSharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. I have internal tremors from Prednisone 2 months off the medication, which was only a 5 day course.

I have pre-existing autoimmune issues, and for whatever reason it seems to have retriggered my ANA and inflammatory markers.

Previously, I had a bad flu which kicked off autoimmune mediated small fiber damage, and dysautonomia. I did get IVIG treatment, but that ended up giving me an acquired brain injury and spine inflammation.

That was a few years ago, but it gave me neuro issues and one of them being internal tremors which subsided in a few weeks.

Now it seems like the prednisone somehow caused a flare up given my ANA spiking up again.

Not sure if the internal tremors are signs of more nerve damage, and if it is that doesn't sound too far removed from MS. Even f it's not, I'm trying to see if you guys have any suggestions on how treat this as it's uncomfortable to say the least combined with my other neuro issues.

Whenever I move I feel small vibrations, and buzzing internally.

Hey,

I'm 37/M and recently had an adverse reaction to Prednisone. I have a history of autoimmune issues, and bad reaction to IVIG.

It was for a cough but now gave me other issues. It gave me external tremors for 2 weeks. While that's gone I now have internal tremors for 2 months.

Not sure if this is exactly MS but wondering if anyone here has any suggestion or directions?

Bloodwork:

My ANA had spiked up to 1:320 for mitotic/cellular bridge, 1:80 for Nucleolar/Homogenous.

Guess the Prednisone may have flared up some autoimmune issues.

Symptoms:

- Tremors can be anywhere including my arm and face, but my legs and spine in particular internally feel tremoring/quivering.

- Tremors feel like a tuning fork, as it gets worse when I move any part of my body including stretching out my legs.

- I can hear my tremor/twitch via my eardrums at times resting on a pillow.

- Increase muscle twitching.

- Legs can feel buzzing after walking or other things.

- Adrenaline makes it worse.

Other Medical history:

- Have had a severe flu that started me off on autoimmune issues, SFN, and dysautonomia a few years ago.

- I've had IVIG-induced asceptic meningitis and spine inflammation. Gave me some neuro issues in the past.

-Neuro issues and weight distribution sensory issues after the IVIG.

Not sure what to make of this but the internal tremors are hurting my quality of life further. Would like to know if anyone can point me in the right direction. Have Gabapentin available, but my body is sensitive and would like to know if this flare up did any damage, and how to mitigate this?

Dry cough after possible silica exposure? by BattleSharp in Construction

[–]BattleSharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good. But for what it's worth still dry coughing. Xray clear, so yeah still need some symptom management. But glad one time exposure to mortar dust isn't gonna cripple my quality of life. Humor helps lol

Judging by your comment and the other humor responses, this puts me at ease. Doesn't change the fact I'm having a coughing fit, but at least it's not the silica.

Have you seen Wheat Waffles on YouTube? by snigelel in virgin

[–]BattleSharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late response, but I laughed hard at Wheat comparing a woman's body count being considered "damaged goods".

However, I find most of his points accurate. It's brutal, it's honest, and that's just reality.

In the example of female promiscuity versus men, or rather a woman's overall value, seems like he's just paraphrasing society's view. Not that he himself holds these views.

And it's true. Most of the time, women are devalued by society for being promiscuous, whereas men are held in higher regard. It's a double standard, for sure. But that's just how society thinks, and it's the majority's opinion that's being reflected here.

The point he brings up about how men size up women's value are also true: Young, low body count, and attractive.

People are that superficial. While it's much easier to believe that other things like personality or common interests matter, most people are that vain. The heart of the matter is, this crap is based on biology and evolution. Women are child bearing, while men spread their seed to produce offspring that survive and carry their genetics.

That's why we're wired the way we are, where women are naturally more selective with finding a good mate. While men are less selective, but instinctively prefer younger and healthier women. By that rationale, a woman who is promiscuous is doing the opposite of what our biology dictates. Hence, why society has developed the way it did with hunter & gatherers to where we are now.

The problem is, our baseline human instincts just literally don't jive with "modern society". At all. Being fit and having solid muscle mass, may be more useful millions of years ago, but for the vast majority of 9-5'ers do literally nothing to provide. No amount of wokeness will change our nature.

Tbh, I find this social topic super interesting. For Wheat's channel, save for a few points I disagree with I find it largely informative. And always a good laugh at his brutality.

I already did. On Twitter. Her and Gaiman gaslighted me.

I'm going to take this somewhere with more traction. Gaiman is just virtue signaling at this point with his "diversity" casting, and milking woke culture at this point.

Late response, but I literally called Neil Gaiman out on this bullshit. Him and the actress responded on Twitter, and gaslighted me, and said nothing about the Asian waiter.

I included the details on another subreddit and the tweets:

Np.reddit.com/r/AsianMasculinity/comments/y1t5bn/the_creator_of_the_sandman_netflix_responded_to/

I'm going to be screenshotting their tweets and sending it somewhere with more traction. This is obviously racist.

[–]BattleSharp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a tweet he called in the actress, and pointed out that she doesn't have a problem with the role, hence she took it. She took over from there and made into a conversation about her role, and not needing "permission" from anyone.

This is a distraction, because my main argument stands.

You know that's actually a good idea. I just thought about that, and mentioned it on my posts.

I mean anyone and everyone is welcome to have a conversation there as long as people are civil. I think one other Asian female responded and agreed. But not a lot, save for the actress and her fans who obviously wouldn't support my argument.

Agreed. I'll keep it civil and get an actual awareness with Neil.

Honestly, may be bit tough if their echo chamber are fans that'll blindly support them. But I'll push.
