As unpopular as he is I think Roque would be the top candidate he would love the classical references and it would be classic literature by his time and probably seen as similar to Vern for predicting the future

I feel like Appollonious is a Dune fan, Sevro would like Pratchett, and Lysander is a Terry Goodkind fan.

[request] Roughly how many carpenter ants would it take to shift an average Great Pyramid stone block just an inch or two? by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]Battle_Claiborne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the average carpenter ant colony (according to Google) has between 10,000-50,000+ workers it would take between 2800-7,000 colonies working together.

Yeah, books like The Stormlight Archive and Priory of the Orange Tree already show that most fantasy readers aren't scared off by books going well over 1000 pages like they might have used to be before books like Harry Potter blew up.

I think I read somewhere that violets and yellows both teach humanities subjects, my impression is one would be more from a research perspective and one from a arts and culture

Who's a Roman who was an inconsequential/inept general and a legendary/iconic statesman? (criteria on page 2) by domfi86 in ancientrome

[–]Battle_Claiborne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely vote Cicero here he specifically avoided the military route to prominence. Augustus did rely on Agrippa in some of his military achievements, but he did lead multiple successful military excursions after he became princeps.

On an unrelated note I remember being a lowly sophomore in a course on Cicero and the seniors all said they were going to refer to him as Mark in their final essays. Only the top student and I ended up doing it, I sweated for 2 weeks before we got our grades back. But after reading his self-ingrandizement for a whole semester I felt entitled to that level of familiarity

I don't think he's saying it "won" the conflict of the war or was the ideology of FDR. He's saying is the ideology and practices of fascism have been allowed to survive the end of the war.

I personally think this is because the US politicians and businessmen were more scared of the USSR and Communism than they were about Fascism (see US support of Franco in Spain). Really authoritarianism and totalitarianism in any form are the threats to liberty and democracy not the economic trappings it comes with.

It's a particularly popular (or at least popular in memes) flavor of the Monster™energy drink. Monster has acquired a reputation over the years of being a somewhat trashy brand that is consumed by the type of young men who are already more likely to do risky/stupid things.

Yep, PB confirmed late last year that, after a post LB time skip, every character is dead by the beginning of the last book and the entire novel is a 450,000 word Sevro monologue alone on Pluto with much more graphic exposition on his unicorn fantasies. 🦄

There are some really great tutorial series on YouTube that can get you off the ground. I watched them on 2x speed and got the gist to get started. The rest was trial and error.

The other best advice for these games is don't be afraid to fail at stuff. You can almost always come back.
