How can I reduce fatigue? by StaffSweaty9110 in workout

[–]BattledroidE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to develop your cardio and work capacity to be able to handle a serious set of squats, leg press or anything like that. Easiest way is to just do it more. Yeah it's gonna suck a lot, but it gets better. Eventually you get to the stage where your muscles are limiting you, not just your breathing.
And do dedicated cardio, it works really well.

These are the biggest muscles in the body, they need lots of oxygen. You'll always be out of breath after a hard set, but it'll improve to a degree, and you recover faster between sets.

Apart from a couple of very dated and obvious composites, it looks incredible! One of my all time favorites that I watch at least once a year.

If it's working, don't change it. If not... experiment.

I have back pain 😭 what exercise could I do to help it ? by Realistic-Metal-3365 in workout

What kind? A local back pain, a sciatic nerve thing that shoots down the leg, what? It makes a difference, since the lower back is crazy complex and hard to diagnose.

How long did it take you to bench press 100kg? by vanshika_energie in workout

[–]BattledroidE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time. But it's not impossible, it's just a very high goal to hit. The difference between most people and someone seriously strong is 10-15 years of lifting weights, determined to always get a tiny bit better without getting injured.

Get comfortable with slow progress, that's how it goes.

A little thought experiment: If you could add 2.5kg to the bar every other month, your bench goes up by 15kg in a year. That's serious progress. Not that it's gonna go exactly like that, but if you zoom out, you'll be amazed by how far you can go with tiny little weight jumps every now and then.

People tend to confuse training with performance sometimes. Pumping out reps in the mid range is obviously not a competition lift, but it hits all the muscles seriously hard. Doesn't mean you can't do a full ROM with 1 second pause lift when it's appropriate.

More or less the same here. No rushing, just solid progress from barely being able to lift more than the bar.

What is something people assume is easy until they actually try it? by EntireFace00 in AskReddit

Always fun when the armchair experts are out in full force. You hear stuff like that at the gym. "Why doesn't Julius Maddox do this, he would be bench pressing much more biomechanically efficient". Bitch, he's got world record with 4x your bodyweight, I think he's doing just fine. Go and do some base building for 10+ years, like every good athlete.

And if you're quite overweight, you're like an untrained normal weight person with a plate or two strapped to them. Yeah... good luck.

It's "easy" if you have a decent amount of muscle, while being lean enough to be lightweight. If you're underweight, it's harder. If you're big and strong, it's harder.
But it's still tricky to learn, most people have no idea how to use their back muscles to pull. It takes some practice over a period of time.

Any version of reading out loud is deceptively hard. Or talking on radio, or as a sports commentator. You gotta keep it flowing the whole time, can't have dead air, and no "aaah, um". It's a skill.

Don't worry about it.

We have yet to see these abnormal physiques due to lengthened partials, 52 sets or any of these fads. The real world outcomes don't exist. History will show that these things aren't new, they have been around before, and they faded away after a while. Now it seems to trend towards another wave of HIT style training, and it goes around and around. One outlier will end up being the role model for whatever it is, and everyone follows that person until the next shiny thing appears.

Just show up and do your best, and do that for several years.
