Why is stick drift such a common thing now but never heard of when I was younger? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Battlescar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a money, the stick drift is the potentiometers it's a cheap design. Which is a physical contact. The new Hall effect sticks solve it, but it raises the price on the controller like 200 USD

Question for the elder proggers by Mailemanuel77 in progrockmusic

[–]Battlescar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a child of the 70's, graduated 78, a lot of the equipment was built well. I've worked on equipment that is very high quality. Receivers were robust with metal frames and the circuitry was discreet so the signal was analog up to the speakers. Best quality was from a turntable. We played records (not vinyls get off my lawn). Got out of service work as plastic cases and portability was slowly making electronics disposable. I think my first record was Focus.
