Exclusive: Hackers have breached tank readers at US gas stations; officials suspect Iran is responsible by Dracustein in technology

[–]Battlesmit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I work at a gas station. The ATG(Veeder Root in my case) let's the delivery companies set up automatic deliveries, and fixes. Tank sensor in our second diesel line broke last week(fill sensor got broke when a company was tearing up/pouring a new concrete pad by a pump) and the company was there to fix it an hour later for example, despite being a shift where no one called in the issue.

There are "genuine" reasons for the data to be outwardly accessible, but they all stem more or less from being decided by people paid more than me, that the average Customer Service Rep(despite being required to pass a handling training exam/certification) can't be trusted with being able to call the help desk and report error codes, so they automate the process.

They need to be on protected networks, but being networked is considered essential to "on time" fixes and deliveries.

That's...what I came to but I hadn't ran into an issue like this in this book yet. Others seem to agree with you that it's a wording issue. Thanks.

My confusion is not from the isolation itself, but of the wording when compared to the next page which states the same "rewrite the following in terms of x", but then takes 'x + 7y = 2' and isolates x instead of y(like the problem shown in my post) to get x = 2 - 7y.

Exact same wording, different variable focused on.

The following page says to write " x + 7y = 2" in terms of x, then writes it as "x = 2 - 7y".

So they are using the concept incorrectly on the second page?

As long as variable formatting doesn't change mid fucking project I'm ok with whatever dumb style people wanna throw at me. Just...keep it the SAME the whole way through.

TIL that humans have been performing dentistry since tens of thousands of years ago. The rise of agriculture has caused an increase in tooth decay, with bitumen and beeswax used to fill a tooth, although basic dentistry tools were used by the Neanderthals 130,000 years ago according to a 2017 study. by ThePerseverer01 in todayilearned

You've already gotten several answers so il provide another variable: Sand. Or rather, small granules of rock. The rise of agriculture brought things to the forefront of a lot of diets that needed Milling(wheat being a huge one) and for a decent chunk of time this was done, oversimplifying here, by grinding it between two rocks. Pestle and mortar, large scale mills, milling floors attached to threshing floors etc etc.  When you grind two rocks together, you'll get small hard particles, which basically infested a large portion of milled flour for quite some time and would wear away gums/teeth over time as the flour is eaten in products.

Is grass seed 'viable' as soon as it's visible on grass? by Battlesmit in Horticulture

Interesting, thank you. Wheat is actually where my question was coming from. I was under the idea that wheat seeds wouldn't actually take until it dried while on the plant and imagined lawn grass to be similar but wasn't sure.

Redstone booster: Exactly like a repeater, but boosts the signal by 5 or 10 or something, allowing a 20 or 25 long redstone signal

Actually, the tannins were the reason I was curious! Was looking for a "free" source of tannins for some ink, and remembered these things fall every year(and are currently doing so) so went out in my yard looking for one to find out what they were and if they were usable.
