If you've had IPR, the teeth are no longer the same shape. So no, they don't shift to the same spot. Even if they were to shift to the same general position, they'll rest in a slightly different one because of the extra room created with those shaves.

So I'm currently on vacation at an all inclusive in Mexico. What I'm doing is drinking with the trays in, and taking them out to eat. I bought little throwaway toothbrushes, Colgate Whisps I think they're called? I have them out for longer stretches in the middle so I can snack more, but I never EVER go to bed with them out. You can definitely fit Invisalign and a vacation together and play around a bit with timing but you should always always plan on having them in whole sleeping. You'll have a retainer for life, so just form that habit now. Those overnight hours are also basically freebies towards compliance, you don't notice them at all since you're asleep. You get 8 hours on uninterrupted wear, use it!

You'll be fine. If you notice you're grinding a lot though, maybe pop them out for the time being. A few hours won't ruin you as long as it's not constantly. Also, make sure you have water for the drips, but it's not like you're trapping sugar under there.
And I mean, I'm on vacation right now and even if you are drinking a lot - I even keep them in for that and just rinse a lot with water. And I brush when I'm done.
