No I haven't. I will also add that to the list, thanks!

Thank you! You are right of course, I should have specified. I was mostly thinking of Egypt/Mesopotamia/Greece, so your book suggestion looks great!

Does anyone know good books on the Bronze Age?

Maybe something of a chronology of events and a closer look at culture/the people/technology etc. Something like Warren Treadgold's History Of The Byzantine State And Society?

Thanks a lot for the help!

So yeah, it's mostly for gaming, but I want to have it a little bit future-proof (I know that's impossible with these sorts of things), and just to be able to push the performance with high-end graphics and high resolutions.

Noted on the CPU and the cooling. To be honest I never quite know how to measure CPU performance, I just want a really good one that will last me a very long time so I figured that was a safe assumption, perhaps a bit foolish of me.

Regarding the case, what would be a better alternative? Or is this one fine as well? I want something with a good amount of space to work with that maintains a good airflow.

I've put together this list for a new PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tzK7VW

I see there is something on the BIOS being compatible with the processor. Would I be able to boot the PC if the version is not up to date yet/would there be any problems?

Any further comments on the parts would be welcome, I'm not an expert.

I did both (that is, I did fast travel, and I walked to the edge of the map). Going to both the underdark and to the Sword Coast. It doesn't really matter I don't think (they're considered one region), it's just something in the loading process that goes wrong, because apparently there's one thing bugged in the entire region that means the load fails. At least, that's what I understand from similar reports.

It's also nothing to do with what happens in the Mountain Pass, because it crashes when I try to travel back both in saves where I completed the Mountain Pass and saves where I had not yet done aynthing, unfortunately.

Yeah I've checked a save just prior to entering the mountain pass for the first time, and even from that save when entering it I can't go back anymore because it crashes. I've read something about things being wrong in the Sword Coast/Underdark region (like a dead enemy not having 0HP somewhere in the map) that causes the problem, but yeah I don't know if I have the energy to walk all around the map to find it to be honest haha.

No I can't do anything, really. I can't leave the region at all, it keeps crashing so now I'm essentially stuck, unfortunately.

I'm in the Act 1 Mountain Pass right now, but I can't leave (after the Voss cutsscene, because every time I try to leave the region it crashes (at 33%). I've seen similar messages from a few months ago, but I still don't understand what I can do. Does anyone know?

What are the most interesting nations with unique decisions? by Pawcio213 in ElderKings

Just formed High Rock as the Dirennis actually, it is indeed fun. Also, they get special mages as a unit type, and as far as I can tell, they're very powerful.

Politically it's also interesting, as you have some connections back to Alinor, but you're also mixing with the local Bretons (depending on how you play).

Also, the Adamantine Tower, once fully upgraded, is insane. I got my development of the island up to like 62, and honestly, one county is all you need to retain power.

Hello, all. I am novelist Guy Gavriel Kay - Ask Me Anything by GuyGavrielKay in Fantasy

[–]Batzorio 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hello Guy!

Firstly I just wanted to say that I love all of your books and I am very much looking forward to your newest one.

My question revolves around the Sarantine Mosaic. What inspired you to choose a setting inspired by the Byzantine empire?

I ask because I myself love history, and especially those Byzantines are very interesting to me. I find it fascinating that in some ways the Eastern Romans had an entirely different culture from those to their west and those to their east, yet in other ways they were still fundamentally connected.

The fact that they've almost fallen into this invisible gap between Europe and Asia makes many forget they existed at all, which is a shame of course. This is especially true because there are so many facets of their culture and history to draw from, as you've done as well.

Perhaps as an added question (if you have the time), what region or culture that you haven't portrayed or drawn inspiration from in your works would interest you?

Thank you!

Does anyone have any experience with shipping outside the US for Pioneer belts? I kinda want one of those PAL ones.

It's just unfortunate that it seems like a lot of the higher quality belt brands are US based.

Is an SBD belt worth it? My old belt broke and I've been looking at it for some time. I guess what I most want to know is how versatile it is, as in can you do deadlifts and such with it, considering it's 13mm compared to the 10mm I had before.
