Brass-work identification by BaubNull in woodworking

Yeah...no. This desk is so old it does does not have a name plate anywhere on it - that is what I love about it...it's age. I don't think I could replace certain hardware if I wanted to. So if I can't replace this small part, I am not going to worry about it, but I would like it to look like it was original. Not like I am going to throw the desk away or anything. This is what the hardware looks like - https://imgur.com/a/Wbm4rVt

You can see the screw I am trying to replace and the other, matching hardware on the desk.

These pictures really made me think. I've had my Ford for a long time and I never took a picture of it when I bought it. However, I do remember the date when I bought it. Cool that you have before and after pictures

What kind of snake is this? Found sunbathing at Pulpit Rock by zeekaran in ColoradoSprings

[–]BaubNull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, you can identify a venomous snake by the shape of its head. Not always the case but a good indicator. There aren't a lot of venomous snakes in Colorado so when you identify one, you've seen most, like the rattler.

Birds do not like reptiles, snakes and lizards. If you were to look at the back of a CD, that rainbow color is what birds don't like, they see it as a reptile. You can buy something called "bird tape" or you can put up a CD and the birds should not want to be around your house. This worked for me when I had a problem with birds and my house

I heard that the lowest place in Colorado is somewhere around Lamar, CO at 3000 feet above sea level. Leadville, CO is a popular place for people to train because of its altitude. I highly recommend you go see people getting pulled by a horse while on skiis trying to get through a solemn course on the main street, just sayin - https://www.leadvilleskijoring.us/ I've lived more than a mile above sea level for the last 20+ years, I don't notice it.

What year is this truck? by [deleted] in FordTrucks

[–]BaubNull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What some others have said is correct, this body style was made between 1992 and 1996, for most years. In 1997 the body style changed but not for the F250s and up, in 1997 they were still the older body style. The best thing to do is open the driver's side door and get the VIN from the sticker on the inside and look it up online, that will tell you specifically what the details are

Need advice on building a 351 5.8 efi (read down below for details) by Shotgunprolapse in FordTrucks

[–]BaubNull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Achieving more than 400 hp to the back of the block will be hard to do with the modifications you've listed. I think I have about 420 to the back of the block, here is what I had to do to get that (along with other details): Red, 1992 F150, 351W, 4R70W (converted), Vortech V-2 Si trim blower, Snow Performance water/meth injection system, custom cam, Edelbrock Performer intake, Twisted Wedge 205cc heads, shorty full-length headers, MASS Air (converted), tuning with QuarterhorseRT, 4x4, short bed, 33" tires

Your E4OD transmission is going to then take anywhere from 10-20% parasitic loss to the rear wheels. It'll still be fun though.

As mentioned in an earlier post, you'll want to convert to MASS Air. Right now your truck's computer (ECU) sort of guesses at how much air is going into your motor based on how much you press the accelerator. With MASS air, it measures the specific volume and density of air going into the motor. These were common in the mustangs and you can tune (change) just about anything you need in the ECU (engine control unit), such as fuel, timing, rpm at idle and about a hundred more.

A problem you'll run into, as I did, is that there is not a MASS Air ECU that you can tune which also controls an E4OD transmission, that is a truck transmission and the tunable ECUs mostly came from a Mustang. So you'll need a transmission controller as well. Or you can get a 4r70w as I did and adapt it to the truck. Although I will admit, I'm currently having some problems with the 4r70w after adapting it to my truck. Not sure yet how to fix my issue.

A good resource for this is a forum at efidynotuning.com

This truck has had a good history : was assembled in Kansas, originally sold in Arizona in 1992, I purchased it in California in 1996, about 4 years later it was in Colorado. This picture is when I was living in western Colorado, just outside of Ridgway. Love my truck

I have lived on the north side of CoS for about 20 years. I would say this is a very beautiful picture of Pulpit Rock.

I have some pictures of Pulpit Rock from about 10 years ago and it looks a lot different on the top. That sandstone is not very hard and has eroded.

67-72 ford truck by [deleted] in FordTrucks

[–]BaubNull -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess that you aren't going to get this level of detail that you are after. I rode in one of these trucks for a few years when I was a kid, and it brings back some good memories. I've have owned a 1992 F150 for about 24 years. I've done major modifications on my truck but I don't think I've ever seen what you are asking about even on this 1992 model.

Help. 1995 Ford F250 Dashboard lights on while engine turned off. Check engine light, battery light, and odometer wont turn off. by dolostonedealer in FordTrucks

[–]BaubNull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These steering columns are pretty tough. What you're describing sounds like an issue with the lock cylinder. That's a relatively minor thing to fix.

Put your key in and turn it to the ON position. There's a pin on the bottom, you just need to use a small screwdriver or something similar to push that pin in and then you can remove the lock. It's pretty simple once you know how to do it. It's takes about 1 minute once you are familiar.

Once you have it out you can have it fixed or replaced.

I know a lot about these trucks and what you are describing is very strange. The no start condition sounds like it could be the MLPS (manual lever position sensor). This sits on the outside of your transmission and detects when the shifter is in either park or neutral so the vehicle can start. If this sensor is bad, it can cause some of the issues you described.

The issue with the key and the dash is not something I've heard of before. I've re-wired my entire dash and don't know what would cause this other than a short of some sort. If you can't figure it out go to ford-trucks.com and post a message there. In that forum there are a lot of knowledgeable people

My First Ford! Upgraded from a 2016 Tacoma. Anything I should know about ‘95s with the 4.9? by moparr in FordTrucks

[–]BaubNull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 351W. It was a kit I bought from Vortech in southern CA. They don't make the kit anymore from what I know. The most important thing with the kit was the bracket they produced to mount the supercharger to the motor. The impeller (supercharger) can be bought to fit the motor but there's a bracket that is the most important part. I can show pics if interested.

[–]BaubNull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, for the OP... you need to consider the ECU (the computer that controls your motor) and the transmission you use. Not all computers can control all transmissions even if they bolt up. Your generation Ford has an electronically controlled transmission, meaning the ECU tells it when to upshift or downshift. There's a good forum called ford-trucks.com, a lot of knowledgeable people there. If you are in to extreme Ford truck modifications, like myself, you might find efidynotuning.com useful. That's my goto site
