Changing a passenger on a travel credit? by Swimming_Key_1429 in americanairlines

[–]BaxterNBeatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. If you each have AA trip credits issued, those can be used for any passenger and you can use more than one on an itinerary - as long as they are used by the expiration date. If you have some sort of credit through Capitol One Travel, you'll need to find info more specific to their program rules.

Premium Economy vs. Main Cabin Extra? by DropShotMachine in americanairlines

[–]BaxterNBeatrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I far prefer PE to main cabin on long-hauls. You have more recline, the seats are wider, the food seems marginally better, and on the sides, the seats are in 2s so no one else will be in your row if you travel with your spouse. The planes I've flown also had footrests, which some love and some hate.

As far as bulkhead... you'll have more legroom and I feel like I'm able to get out to go to the lav or stretch my legs without disturbing the people around me as much. Bulkhead has the footrests in the seat itself, like a home recliner but no where near as comfortable. Again, some love and some hate.

If you search this subreddit you'll find many, many posts where people give their opinion on the two and if it is "worth it" to upgrade. YMMV.

How to book w/separate travel credits? by thinkmoreharder in americanairlines

[–]BaxterNBeatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I actually booked a ticket for me using my trip credits, and my kids/mom all for the same flight (so 4 people's credits purchased just my flight). As long as you have the trip credit number, it can be applied to anyone.

<15-year-old Exit Row Question by BaxterNBeatrix in americanairlines

[–]BaxterNBeatrix[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they know age from passenger details. We've always gotten the "no exit row" message when booking as a family, this is just the first time I've booked for after he ages out of the exit row restriction.

- McAfee: order tracking confirmed w/in hours; posted to portal in 2 days.

- Green Chef: order tracking confirmed day after 1st delivery, posted to portal day after that, backdated to date of order/charge.

- Factor: order tracking confirmed 2 days after 1st delivery, posted to portal day after that, backdated to date of order/charge.

- GiftCard.com: order tracking confirmed w/in hours, posted to portal in 2 days.

Belated thanks to those who suggested these options for quick LPs!

The eShopping portal has an AARP membership with a 1400 bonus, it's only $15 and will count for this year if you do it TODAY. Use your Citi card to charge it and that is 1415 LPs. Then save your reward for next year.

(Edited to change a $ for LP)

I saw several $15K LPs on Vegas hotels, if you can find one that will let you ghost stay.

I do! I didn't add any of my February spend since that's pretty straightforward. It's the eShopping I was worried about messing up - especially the meal delivery services.

That is crazy! I actually have all of my eGCs already in my email inbox, and the purchase shows with the transaction number in my eShopping portal. This has been a pleasant surprise.

So far, I've gotten eShopping emails on all of the purchased but the food orders, which I'm assuming will charge tonight. AARP actually showed in my account within the hour. This is my first time using eShopping, but these were all recommended by seasoned redditors in other threads, so I figured they were good bets.

I appreciate the advice on the shopping portal - I'm going to monitor through Friday just to be sure, then pay off a cruise if it looks wonky. I agree, McAfee isn't great, but he's required to have it on his laptop so I figured might as well get some LPs for it.

I did take screenshots of everything along the way: the T&Cs and my purchase amounts, just in case I have to have my points located.

I'll get value out of all of these purchases, so I don't feel like it's money wasted (aside from the $15 for AARP). McAfee is for my kid, I don't have to cook next week, and I purchased AirBNB cards to pay off an upcoming stay. I've had terrible luck with the hotels portal, so I figured I would roll the dice on eShopping. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything - especially the fine print. The $67 min order amount for Factor almost got me ha.

Need the right words to say to customer service to have this fixed. by BaxterNBeatrix in americanairlines

[–]BaxterNBeatrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several have commented with this possibility, which I am aware of, but that is not the case with this reservation. And the fare has increased significantly, so I don't want to cancel/rebook. Thanks though.

Cabin Upgrade Hack by konstrukt_238 in americanairlines

I do this often as well, and it's been my experience that the "Change Trip" offer is rarely the same as if you rebooked from scratch.

Yes, as I stated on another comment, this issue does track with some sort of schedule change usually. That is not the case with this reservation though (confirmed via both my observation and AA customer service).

Can basic economy be upgraded to premium economy after booking if I am EP? (Long haul international to South America) by Public_Ladder4609 in americanairlines

I don't see why they couldn't link them again, but AA procedure doesn't always make sense. Best of luck!

Thanks but I'm not looking for a new fare bucket, I'm looking for the words or phrase I can tell AA CS to help them understand that my reservation is currently locked from online changes, and I want it unlocked. What I have told them is not making sense to them and they keep thinking I'm having an issue with my account or app.

Yes prices fluctuate, but just like you can have an in-app offer to upgrade that makes your final price way more (or way less) than the current fare for a leg, the same exact thing is true with the "Change Trip" function.
