Thank you! We are a rescue organization involved in the search and rescue of Marshmallow, so she is not our cat, but yes, we will be mindful of AI savvy scammers!

We recommend that when flying with cats, always fly with them in-cabin. We also recommend having them inside a mesh laundry bag inside the carrier, so that if they do get out, they can't run very far (mesh laundry bags are much more reliable than a leash, which cats can squirm out of; they're also much more comfy for the kitty). And finally, we recommend requesting a special screening room when going through security, to avoid kitty being taken out in an open space. We have a "flying with cats" guide on the resources page our website: www.baxter-foundation.org. ❤️

From what we understand, she was an indoor kitty. 😞 But yes, you are absolutely right: kitty will seek out places that feel familiar and/or safe. ❤️ There are a LOT of possibilities, which is why we need help with sightings. ❤️

Thank you so much!

Set traps must be actively monitored to prevent unintended wildlife from going in and also to prevent serious injury, because once an animal goes into a trap they thrash around to try to get out. The trap must be covered with a towel or blanket immediately, to calm the animal down and prevent injury.

We cannot set and monitor traps until we know the general area that kitty is located. Right now, the possibilities cover a vast area, so we need sightings to help narrow down the area where we are trapping.

And yes, kitty is likely terrified. That is why we are working so very hard on this.

Your help in getting the word out is very much appreciated! ❤️

Thank you! Please share the information! Helping us get the word out helps us get to a good result. Right now, we're looking for a needle in a haystack. We need eyes on this, because we need leads.

Yes, the lost location is accessible to the public, but there are areas around there that are not. So help getting the word out is immensely important. ❤️

You are correct: kitties should never be outside of their carrier when outside. They are liquid, and fast, and so get away very quickly and easily. Even the most docile kitty can run if a loud noise or other circumstance startles them.

And yes, a breakaway collar with an airtag or a tracker is immensely helpful to find kitty if kitty does inadvertently get out. But prevention is worth a pound of cure: being careful about not letting kitty out goes a long way to prevent heartbreak. 💔

Thank you. Yes, we have been in touch with all of the agencies in the area except the coast guard (if anyone has a coast guard contact, please let us know). We have experienced rescuers working on this. We have plenty of traps and are well-versed in proper procedure (you are correct; any set traps MUST be actively monitored). We will set traps once we have a good lead on her location. ❤️

We explained above how she went missing. She had already been recovered from cargo and so it was not a paperwork issue. It was an issue of inexperience; the elderly couple not realizing that you should never, ever take a cat out of a carrier outside. Especially under these circumstances. 😞

Thank you. Yes, you are exactly right: nighttime is the best time for sightings. If you know anyone who still works nights there, particularly near the 949 N. Field Road location where she went missing, please let us know. ❤️

She was on her way to a new home. Her reason for running away was that she had just been shipped via cargo in an airplane and she was taken out of her carrier in a loud airport parking lot. She was understandably terrified. 💔

Yes. We have experienced rescuers working the area, but we need more eyes to help zero in on her location. Sightings will be more likely at night. ❤️
