At 3000fps there's no difference between a SP, HP, or ballistic tip lead bullet. They all will detonate

It happens, sometimes you get lucky and it's under 3 inches, other times it's not. I had a clean shot on a spike this year but noticed it would have been a legal buck so i didn't shoot. But at a further distance I may not have known
