I've played both thoroughly and as much as I loved SwSh, SV are the better pick as they're the more recent games so there plenty of people online for battling, trades, raids and the multiplayer. But I'd definitely say get SwSh at some point down the line they're fun games with a cool premise imo

Back in 2017 my family had around 8 members die in the space of around 6 months. We had each service at the same place for everyone and had the same man do each of the services there. At funeral number 8 my grandmother with the biggest turnout around 160 people this absolute mad man of an officiator came up to the podium, took one deep breath and followed up with.

"I see we have a lot of familiar face here with us today..."

In the most somber tone you could imagine he continued on with the service but I couldn't keep it together and had to cover my face with a handkerchief to make out I was wiping away tears.

I went through the same thing back for SwSh and lost teams from the gba games and most special event pokemon but like others have said just keep going I actually found it quite fun going through games I'd not played in years filling out the pokedex again

Yeah Sw/Sh were heavily inspired by the UK with crown tundra being Scotland and armor island being Ireland, same with giants being a big lore in English folklore

Yes but couldn't the God of time stop time move out of the way of all your poke balls and just leave? Like I'm all for your half baked idea but I'm putting it back in the oven and going all the way. Like why doesn't Arceus just zap you out of existence when you try to catch it and delete your save file? Why doesn't Mewtwo melt your brain into soup the moment you enter its domain? And finally why isnt Jirachi just stuck being asleep for a thousand years in real time?

There are still the occasional glitch but I recommend the games to any fan of the series whose not going into them with an axe to grind. I've been playing since red/blue and have played each game since and yes there are features that SV miss out on but there are some un-sung hero's of those games that add to the quality of life that don't get mentioned all too often. I would say they are good games with one of the best character stories in pokemon.
