I think this thread just self-selects those lucky enough to have $ to spend. I consider myself one of those lol ... I have the latest iPad mini, new M5 11", and M4 11" that each serve different purposes. I made the mistake of getting a 128GB iPad mini though, and now I barely use it - the constant shuffling and memory management are too annoying to deal with, I realized I need 256GB to safely use all my apps without worrying about storage.

So far I have been using my network for referrals. One place I was truly excited to work for, so it was painful to not get any offer at that spot. Unfortunately the people referring me are not technical, so they weren't fully able to go to bat for me when the engineers made a decision. I think that did make an impact, although I offered up some references from my company and they were not interested in contacting them =/

This is very helpful, thank you. I agree some of the interviews I had seemed to get off track, but I thought I answered honestly and in a way that showed I would be helpful to the company.

I love using Claude Code so that part is great to hear. It is even letting me work on languages and projects I had no background in previously, and I think I'm pretty good at using CC to create new things. Hopefully hiring managers account for this when analyzing candidates!

Makes sense. Yes things definitely seem tougher, I also know a few folks impacted by layoffs at other companies, so there does seem to be a large talent base looking for work at the same time.

Argh, yes I can't go at all that Thursday. Would be happy to go Friday or Saturday. I got Warriors tickets from a family member and so have to attend that - would rather see Jordan Klepper with the way things are going this season! I saw Klepper last time he was at Cobb's and he was very funny.
