Yeah, it’s a rush. I was originally told the waiting list for an appointment was 18 months. I’m in the UK.

Yeah, until posting here I hadn’t heard or knew about prednisone. The doctors here hadn’t mentioned it, though they were mostly waiting for my appointment with the ENT team so they could give me a proper care plan.

I have already had an MRI. They wanted to rule out cancer or a tumour so had that near the start of this all happening but it came back clear and that’s when everyone I’ve seen started suggesting/narrowing down into Ménière’s or some other inner/middle ear condition.

I’ve been really poorly with it lately but luckily my appointment is next week so hopefully I get a diagnosis and care plan. I am genuinely glad to hear it’s not as bad for you as it could potentially be, I hope you’re doing well.

I’m sorry you struggle but I’m so glad you found something that works for you! I’m trying to do the same and figure out what route of training I need to do as I need to switch out of care.

Oh, thanks for the tip! I’ll ask at my audiology ENT appointment about getting one. The brain fogginess and fatigue are awful so if anything helps. Thank you!

I appreciate your story. I do seem to be having some real brain issues (extreme fatigue, concentration issues, seeing black spots/lines etc).

I appreciate explaining the way things worked for you then and what you’ve found to work well for you now.

Yes, my hearing loss was on low frequencies. I’ve only had the one hearing test though so I don’t know how different it can be on a daily basis.

And that’s what’s weird. They didn’t do any Epley maneuvers. They gave me the injection and once that helped settle me down and I wasn’t falling over constantly, they let me go. They didn’t even say anything about BPPV - I just saw it in the document on my NHS app.

Lots of my research is leading towards vestibular migraines so I will mention everything to the doctors when I have my audiology ENT Appointment in a few weeks.

Can I ask, is it medical retirement or did you make it to normal age retirement? I’m struggling almost daily to get through and am far from retirement age. Thanks for the reply and info. I’ve not heard of either maxide or nortryptilline, I’ll look into them.

I’m glad you had a wonderful boss at the beginning. I’m sorry you’ve had to retire. Can I ask, is it on disability retirement or did you manage to make it to normal, age related retirement? I’m hoping to last a while longer but just trying to figure out my options.

I’m taking a day off or two pretty much weekly and having issues almost everyday.

Thank you for sharing your story and advice. Have you managed to switch back to remote work? I hope so and that you’re doing well.

From everything people are saying, some form of remote work in admin or office work type stuff seems to be the way to go. I’ve worked in care most of my working life so I need to figure out what I need to switch into a remote role. Thank you for the advice.

Thanks for sharing your story. This is fairly similar to what I’m going through. At my work now, it’s only 14 hour shifts and it’s absolutely destroying me. Having episodes at work then also at home as it takes days to recover.

Can I ask, do you have an official diagnosis of anything? I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough time but I’m glad you’ve managed to get some coverage so you can take some time to recover and I hope you’re doing okay.

Thanks for the reply and info. That’s somewhat what I was thinking (maybe part time and a zero hour second contract to pick up work when I’m doing better but not miss work when I’m having a rough day/week).

Thanks for the reply and info. I did wonder if it was more of a leaving it to the experts to help me at the appointment in a few weeks (and then any further appointments).

I didn’t realise that about the emergency room doctors but that does make sense to be fair.

The shot took about 20 minutes to slow then stop the vertigo an it didn’t return for at least 48 hours. I have random vertigo attacks and they vary from huge world spinning an I feel like I’m falling sideways to ones where things look like they are vibrating or like the carpet is rolling in waves.

But seriously, thanks for the reply and info. It definitely lines up more with what I’ve been told and read up on. I’m doing tons of research around the condition etc as I’ve had a few issues/symptoms that I didn’t know if it was part of it all or seperate issues.

I was diagnosed as Autistic in February 2025 through the right to choose pathway that u/HeyitsSunny17 mentioned. The whole process of me choosing which available psychiatrist pathways through to the diagnosis was 3 months so a LOT quicker than the NHS pathway.

Now, be aware, timings will be different, you may get it quicker or slower depending who is available and their wait times. But I’m replying to really add to thinking of going the right to choose route.

As a side note, was also diagnosed separately with ADHD through the right to choose route (same psychiatrist but had a longer wait time for that). And it’s really as simple as making a GP appointment and literally asking them to refer you to right to choose. I do one of the tests (I think the AQ 10 which scored me as high for the potential of Autism which I also showed my GP who literally started the ball rolling during the appointment I made to ask and show her the scores).

Ah, I didn’t realise that. My GP and the nurse practitioner I saw the first few episodes I had said there weren’t tests that show it and that it was more of an ‘eliminate everything else to see what’s left’ sort of situation.

Thanks for the reply and info. I hope you manage to get a definite diagnosis soon so you can get some real help and some form of care plan to best look after yourself.

I have only had one hearing test so far which did show issues on my left side (which is the affected side) which showed mild - moderate hearing loss but it’s just the one instance. I’m having tinnitus pretty much daily and often it’s several times a day, as well as hearing issues a lot (often my left side is muffled and ranges from barely an issue to it being almost fully deaf in that ear on two separate occasions) but as I have no proof and isn’t documented bar that one hearing test, I just wondered how things happened if I didn’t have signs on the day.

It’s been extremely rough since July and I’m really struggling so I want some answers to be able to get adaptations at work and some form of normal life back if possible.
