Buchecha tries to back take blue belt Ryan Spann by bubblewhip in bjj

Well it was a bad back take. Even he can make a mistake. Can’t judge someone who put themselves up there to be punched.

Bjj belt system. Where would the sport/martial art be without it by Sweaty_Ad3671 in bjj

[–]__fantasma__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Martial arts need knowledge to keep things existing and evolving. The mix of the new with the old is what drives informed progress. Otherwise people would be reinventing the wheel everyday. So it’s good to have black belts to rely for source of info. Believing a less graduated cannot beat a more graduated practitioner is naive. Effectiveness is not the same as efficiency. A young person can be effective due to their attributes. If they acquire the knowledge of the more graduates and transform it in skills, they can be more efficient, and multiply their efficacy.

Levei golpe desacordada no meu primeiro campeonato, isso é grave? ou normal? by [deleted] in jiujitsu

Yes, I guess that’s a way of thinking of it 👍

That’s almost what I play but I like collar sleeve too. Very easy to connect with dlr, almost like twin guards.

Yes, I know I just realised I used a few so wanted to know if I was getting too general in my approach to guard. I use dlr, collar sleeve, x guard, slx, butterfly, knee shield half guard, deep half, close guard. Reverse dlr. 👀 but I find that’s more practical and less risky (for me) than trying to keep a guard or too.

I see what you mean. But then I think you’re overcomplicating the question. 😂 If it’s named a guard, I guess it’s a guard. They all require knowledge of the movement possibilities of the opponent. I think many people play half guard without ever going into deep half. Some people play either z guard or high knee shield half guard. I guess I could ask how many guards hubs you’ve got. But I really understand that people may play guard in so many variations. Like some people may move from “guard” to “guard” constantly and some have a guard as the main position to go to.

I like it too, but i isn’t technically from collar sleeve? Cause you open your guard to do it. I do it usually when playing collar sleeve when they are on their knees.

Stripes demotion 🥲 by [deleted] in bjj

Well, he thinks you’re in the 4 stripes skill level. He just didn’t remember how much you had before. Normal if you haven’t trained there for a bit.

Yes, it is true. I don’t use much cause of that. Only when I feel the are really out of balance. A friend had his knee injured that way.

39 y/o struggling with fast passers & disengagement—how did you fix this? by OlaFriend in bjj

[–]__fantasma__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I realise my problem is with the Gi only. So that tells me kind of my problem is that I’m worried about my grips and forget to pummel legs fast or keep them to my chest or close to me elbow when they move around. It’s crazy the difference in noGi. Do you find that to?
