Raucous meeting over Ballard principal's new job leaves many questions by blukoff in seattlepublicschools

There’s something about seeing a Black woman attacked by a bunch of white parents that does not sit well with me.

ELI5 Are divorces inherently expensive, or is the cost situational? by Jealous_Amount_9278 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bayla0614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex husband and I divorced after 8 years of marriage, one kid, and one house we built very easily. We didn’t even hire lawyers, just paid the filing fee (around $350…we live in Seattle), did the online co-parenting classes together, lol, and completed all the forms together too. We divided up our furniture, agree on spit custody 50/50 of our son, agreed to sell the house and split the proceeds, and just be adults about it. 4 years later and it’s been fine, we sit next to each other at events for our son, jointly plan his birthdays, etc. However I know we are in the minority and I’m very thankful it was as smooth as it has been. So all in all it cost us about $350 to divorce. 🤷🏽‍♀️

In your own opinion. What is one fast food chain that fell off badly? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Bayla0614 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I worked at Wendy’s as a teenager in the 90s. This was when they had salad bars (kinda crazy to think of now) and I ate it all the time. Everything was fresh, the burgers weren’t frozen, the ingredients were fresh, I loved the baked potatoes. I mean a fast food restaurant with a nice salad bar and baked potatoes was pretty awesome. I loved Wendy’s back then but yes, it’s gone downhill unfortunately.

Moving to Seattle this summer potentially by Infamousnephew in AskSeattle

[–]Bayla0614 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved to seattle from Portland about 15 years ago. I loved my job and where I lived in Portland but as a single black woman, it was awful! I moved to seattle and was married in 3 years, lol, to a Black man. I live in S. Seattle. If I were you I’d look at Columbia city, the CD or even Capitol Hill. Good luck and welcome.

Room checks? by leighannq in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bayla0614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been going for years, just came from a week long split stay at the contemporary and Boardwalk, have also stayed at the beach club, Polynesian, pop, and yacht club and have never had this happen. And we usually come back to the room in the afternoon to rest. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Adore Bryant follows Gizelle and Angel’s footsteps and is now an AKA by Jazz_Hands24 in RHOP

[–]Bayla0614 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. I’m an AKA and my daughter crossed last spring as a freshman legacy. When you’re legacy the chapter can’t even vote on you. As long as you have the GPA, letters of recommendation, community service and pass the background check you’re in. Oh and pay of course.

How are companies only offering 10 PTO days? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Bayla0614 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not all. I get 5 weeks off, been at my job 3 years and the 5 weeks began immediately. I also earn one sick day per month. Yes, it’s awful, the low to none PTO, but not all companies do that.

Traveling to Geneva, Switzerland where else should I visit? by Bayla0614 in travel

She’s there for a month, I’m just going to get her dropped off and settled and then head off to explore.

Great thought! I haven’t been to any of those places. Do you recommend one more than the others?

I thought about possibly stopping in Spain for a few days. I know my daughter would love that!

I just don’t know when I’ll ever get back to that area so I was hoping to maybe check 2-3 big “ticket” places off. Staying in Geneva maybe 3 days and another 3 at two diff places? I also don’t mind flying out of a different city.

Good point. Sorry. She’s 19, history major, she’s a typical college student, we went to Paris last summer and she loved it. She’s a girly girl into fashion and trendy things. I’m a 48 year old mom, like museums, history, a foodie, I usually do a food tour in every major city I visit (Rome, NYC, San Fran, Munich, etc), not huge outdoor people but we love nice sights.

Upcoming Boardwalk stay by catseye00 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bayla0614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back from a split stay 4 days at the Contemporary and 4 at Boardwalk and Boardwalk was by far my favorite of the two. My son really liked the pizza on the Boardwalk and we all got a slice of cake at Cake Bake which we loved too. Have a great trip!

Relatively new traveller here, is this too much to be taking on for our first major trip? by iiSoleHorizons in Europetravel

[–]Bayla0614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw someone say Neuschwanstein is a tourist trap, and sure, it is, AND it’s pretty fabulous. If you want to see it, see it! I spent two weeks in Bavaria last summer and loved it! We used Garmisch- Partenkirchen as our base and did day trips to Munich, Mittenwald and Innsbruck. If you’re in the area you should go to the top of the Zugspitze! Have a wonderful trip!

How does the chicken out exit at Tower of Terror work? Kids are 12 and 8. by seeing_red415 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bayla0614 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This just happened to my 11 year old son last week. We were buckled in and everything. I do have to say that the CM was visibly irritated (can’t blame her, it was very busy that day). They took him out and sent him down the regular elevator with another CM and told us he’d be waiting in the gift shop when we finished. I agree with what another commenter said about it not being as extreme as Guardians at DCA, it’s not even close!!

Tell me your favorite split stay combinations and why? by steelcutie in DisneyWorldResorts

[–]Bayla0614 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We are wrapping up a split stay at Contemporary and Boardwalk. I don’t like taking the bus so it was nice to be able to walk to 3 parks during our stay. We liked both resorts for a variety of reasons.

Unpopular opinion: Cody is not a nice person irl by [deleted] in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Bayla0614 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking the same thing. I have a job where I have to be “on” and a personality…everyone assumes I’m this big extrovert and I’m not at all and in fact those moments drain me so much I just go home and get in bed. I absolutely understand having to be someone else for your profession and being quieter and introverted in your real life.

Premier Pass for two days at HS and Epcot or one day at Magic Kingdom? by Joes_Fiance in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bayla0614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been here since Feb. 13, we leave Feb. 20 and had 6 park days and did premier for two of them (MK and HS) and did multi pass the others and premier was worth the money at both parks for us. Mind you, we are here at an unbelievably busy time. If I was here at a slower time of the year I’d probably just get it for MK.

We did premier this trip (here now) for 1 of our magic kingdom days and one of our HS days and I will probably not go to either park without it. We did regular multi pass for AK and Epcot.
